The Chicken and the Eagle

Good morning/afternoon ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. First, let me introduce myself. My name is JiYalan. I am glad to stand here. Today, the title of my story is The Chicken and theEagle. Before I begin to tell the story, I want to ask you two questions. Do you have a dream? Why can’t you realize your dream? By the end of my story you will get the answer. Here comes my story:

Once upon, a boy picks up an eagle egg on his way home. He takes it home and puts it with chicken eggs. Some days later, the eagle egg hatches, and a beautiful eagle is born. He loves his home and family. He lives a happy life with them. He thinks he is nothing more than a chicken. But when he sees eagles fly high in the sky, he cries, “Oh, I wish I could fly like those eagles.” The chickens laugh and tell him, “Don’t silly. That’s the eagle, the king of all birds. You could never be like those eagles. You are a chicken, and chicken can’t fly.” The eagle still has the dream to fly. But each time he tells his dream to the chickens, they tell him, “Don’t give it another thought. You can never fly.” Many times later, the eagle believes the chickens and stops dreaming. Much to our surprise, he begins to complain about his life. Finally, after a long life as a chicken, the eagle dies. What a pity! In fact, you could become what you believe you are. What you need to do is to believe in yourself. My friends, we are born to be an eagle, we should not listen to the chickens but should believe in ourselves!
