decisions. What a pity!

6. Everyone wants to earn a higher salary and everyone wants to live a better life. Nobody

should interrupt this desire. It's rational and moral for graduating students to choose a better job with a higher salary in order to live better, pay off education loans and help support their families. If I were in the same situation, I would do it. Internet 网络

﹥﹥相关问题:Some say that the Internet has killed writing. What do you think? What about online writing? What makes it stand out? How is it different from printed work? ﹥﹥参考观点:

1. In ancient times, wood, stone, or cloth were used for writing. Then paper replaced them

because paper is more convenient or cheaper. And now, the Internet is coming with advantages over paper. From an historical angle, the Internet will surely kill paper, and then writing on paper.

2. I don't read stories online very much though it is convenient. Good literature should be tasted

carefully! But computers kill my intuition. That may explain the popularity of letters today. 3. I prefer printed work to online writing. Fluent wording, smooth plots and thoughtful ideas are

vital principles that writers should observe. However, online publication is so easy and casual that some \Think carefully before putting your work online.

4. I prefer works on the Internet to the books in the bookstores. First, online reading is cheaper.

Currently, one yuan might be enough for a book of about 20-30 pages. But one yuan, that is about 20 minutes online, can help you download hundreds of pages and then read later. Second, you can find many unpublished books on the Internet. Third, the Internet usually provides ways for readers and writers to communicate with each other. This is hardly achieved by books.

5. I'm just a writer on the web. I love writing. But I'm only a common girl without money and

confidence to publish my work. So I put my stories on the Internet with an affordable price. This way of publishing helps me achieve my dream and put me together with my readers. So I like it.

6. More people tend to write or read online because it's free and has speedy delivery. But I

believe books have their own attractions. First, they are portable. You can take them anywhere you'd like to read. Second, reading on screen does much more harm to readers' eyes than reading books. So, online writing and paper writing have their own advantages and will co-exist.

7. Security is a big threat to the development of the Internet. Online reading is no exception.

Though online works can be protected from natural disasters, looting and arson, hackers can cause damage. So when reading or writing online, bear the security issue in mind.

8. Internet writing gives more chances for students to demonstrate and improve their writing

skills. Just like what I am doing now! If 21st Century only accepted standard mail for this column, I would never have a chance to take part in it!

9. Some students got into graduate school because of their contribution to the fight against

SARS. Is such a policy proper? Or is it just another form of privilege? Should it be encouraged? Job 工作

21

﹥﹥相关问题:College graduates are being encouraged to start their own businesses. But are they ready? What are the obstacles? What's your view of student entrepreneurs? How can society better prepare them? If you were given a chance to choose your career again, what kind of job do you prefer? Do you want to keep to one job till your retirement? Or do you want to change job from time to time?

﹥﹥参考观点:

1. Starting your own business sounds really good for college graduates. However, there are

a lot of problems. The main difficulty is funding. Maybe some can get that from their parents or other sources, but most cannot get it at all. Our government should allow college graduates to borrow money from banks.

2. Most college graduates won't start their own businesses. Our education does not provide

enough knowledge on how to do it. Though job-hunting is very competitive this year, many graduates still prefer living a peaceful life rather than starting their own business. 3. Having one's own business is fairly good, but also very challenging. Young graduates

lack experience, social relationships and social support. Plus, our society fails to provide them with a wide range of business support. Unlike in the UK or US, being our own bosses is a dream that is too far to reach for most of us.

4. I believe personality is important for the success of a business. So, before starting your

own business, you need to analyze whether you are suitable for running a private enterprise or other kind of business.

5. If a graduate has the ability to become an entrepreneur, he can devote himself to business.

But the fact is that many graduates don't have that ability or courage. If a student doesn't evaluate his ability correctly and just wants to follow the tide, he may fail in the business field.

6. Being encouraged to start their own businesses, college students can get some valuable

social experience, which will be helpful to their future career. They may also know themselves and society better. Since they're green hands in the business field, guidance from their parents and other seniors is necessary.

7. Starting your own business is becoming a fad. But it is not as easy as people imagine. It

can take a few years to put one's theory into practice. What's more, they must have perseverance and support while encountering difficulties in today's fiercely competitive business fields. Otherwise, they might loose their enthusiasm, creativity and confidence. 8. A suitable job is difficult to find for college grads and starting businesses becomes a

challenge. They may lack social experience and sufficient funds, but they may also fulfill their dreams with passion, energy and perseverance. They can make good use of the chances provided by our government.

Life 生活

﹥﹥相关问题:What's your view of hippy, yuppy and Bobo lifestyles? Are they worth copying? The \saving changed over the past two decades? And what do you think about this lifestyle?

22

﹥﹥参考观点:

1. Lifestyle is a personal choice — determined by many factors, such as family background,

educational level and ability. If you happen to be a hippy, yuppy, or Bobo, just let it be. But there is nothing to be admired, envied or copied. Fashion comes and goes. If you're always busy following the latest trend, you might lose the time to do anything valuable.

2. I believe the Bobo is just another fad of wealthy people. As a fad, it will not last. People,

especially the wealthy, are never content with their current situation. One day they'll work out yet another way of living and then there'll be yet another term to describe them.

3. I admire Bobos' lifestyle because they have less pressure and never worry about the future.

They are truly individual — both materially and mentally. Xu Kai, the character in the novel \

4. Of course, the Bobo lifestyle has a strong appeal for most of the youth today. Perhaps, it is

worth admiring. But never try to copy it. When I was a child, a wise elder told me that if you are a tortoise, never try to be a hare. So love your own life and cherish it every day!

5. It's hard to figure out which group you belong to. But it doesn't matter if you're a hippy, yuppy

or Bobo, we still do a lot of the same things. You cannot be classified in one group just because you buy something expensive or drink special brands. We don't need labels or to be labeled.

6. I like the lifestyle of Bobos — for their show of identity and individuality. But I don't think it's

worth copying for they still have their own problems. We only see the bright side of their life, they must have paid a lot to attain it.

7. Their existence is reasonable, but I do not admire Bobos. Everyone has their own lifestyle and

it depends on their fortunes and hobbies. Society needs varied people.

8. In days, not long ago, every person had to save money for an unpredictable future. But now,

with the perfection of the social security systems, saving money for the future is gradually becoming outdated. More people are focusing on their present life quality. Several days ago, I read an article entitled: \are women happier than men?\The journalist answered: \for the present, but men live for the past, the present, and the future.\

9. The phenomenon of spending money in advance is particularly common among young people.

There are two reasons: First, young people are more impulsive at the sight of the new and the original. Second, nowadays, as long as you have credit, you borrow money from the bank. So the old value of saving for a rainy day is no longer necessary.

10. I don't see that there is anything wrong with the lifestyle of the \If they have

solid resources, why not let them spend money on their own terms. I would like to choose this fashionable lifestyle if I could.

11. I know many people who live the lifestyle of the \

When I have the ability to earn money, I'll deposit 10 per cent of my salary every month. When the money in the bank account increases to a certain amount, I'll withdraw it to invest in stocks or bonds.

12. Personally, I really appreciate the lifestyle of the \

man comes into this world with his fist clenched, but when he dies, his hands are open.\people spend all their lives working and earning. At last, they pass away with nothing. Life is

for work and enjoyment. Overseas Degree “洋文凭”

﹥﹥相关问题:Overseas degrees could \in value. Why is that? And is one's competitive edge sharpened by study overseas? What is the real value of overseas study?

﹥﹥参考观点:

1. I find great differences between people who studied overseas two decades ago and those who

go today. Before the 1990s, only really talented people could study abroad. But today, even senior high school students can go if they have the money. Some go abroad because they are not qualified for any colleges in China. No doubt, this decreases the quality of overseas Chinese and also caused a depreciation of their degrees. The easier the degree is to get, the less valuable it is.

2. To me, the \

know the real value of overseas study and abandoning the blind admiration of overseas degrees. This trend warns those who want to go abroad just to have fun, that your future is not guaranteed by the degree you have, but by how much you have actually learned.

3. A diploma granted by an overseas university appeals to many people. Potential employers

may choose applicants with outstanding educational backgrounds, but the performance during the internship period is the most important factor when a final decision is made. However, many job hunters with overseas degrees do not perform well because they are not familiar with the Chinese situation, or because their knowledge is not applicable in China.

4. I agree with the saying: The rarer it is, the more valuable it is. With more Chinese returning

from abroad, the value of an overseas degree will certainly depreciate. The real value of overseas study is to improve one's language ability, experience a different culture and a different way of thinking. As for the academic degrees, Chinese universities are also excellent. 5. The reason Chinese students settle overseas is mainly because they can easily get the latest

science and technology. At the same time, they have opportunities to attend some important conferences and research meetings. But I think more Chinese will come back because the root of their development is in China.

6. Though overseas degrees seem depreciated, I still regard it valuable to study overseas.

Overseas study includes more than just studying. It allows the experience of living in another country, learning about a different culture and trying to draw conclusions from cross-cultural communications. Sex Education 性教育

﹥﹥相关问题:Pornography is an open secret at colleges. Why do students go looking for this stuff? Is it morally acceptable? Do schools do a good job or none at all in sex education?

﹥﹥参考观点:

1. College students in China seem to have no way to learn about sex except by visiting porn sites

or viewing porn films. I think that browsing porn websites is morally OK only if the student has a correct attitude towards sex.
