Consolidation (10 minutes) 1. Individual work 2. Group work 3. Group work 4. Group work and the whole class work 1. Students share their answers with their classmates and all the answers can be found in the passage. 2. Students discuss in groups. They should look the information up in the textbooks and the notebooks. 3. Students stand up one by one, showing their ideas and sitting down. Each student has 2 minutes to express their ideas once. They should debate actively. E.g. Group A: I am sure the Internet can bring us convenience. We can do some shopping without leaving the room. Group B: I am not sure if your words are true. More and more people buy things on the Internet. But we can’t see the goods directly. Sometimes they are not good. 4. Students discuss in groups and know they should use the Internet correctly from now on. 1. Invite some students to share their answers with their classmates. 2. Debate: Teacher divides the class into two parts. Part one aims to find the advantages of the Internet, while part 2 aims to find the disadvantages of the Internet. 3. Organize a debate meeting. Draw smiling faces on the blackboard when students give their ideas. 4. Teacher summarizes the debate meeting. Then show the idea : Every coin has two sides. After the debating we know how to use the Internet correctly now. Practice (10 minutes) 1. The whole class work and pair work 2. Pair work 3. Pair work 4. Individual work 5. Group work 6. Group work 1. Students work in pairs. Ask and answer the questions. 2. Students make a dialogue. Learn the general question form “be sure”. 3. Students practice the dialogue. 4. Students fill in the blanks in 2b with the help of 2a. 5. Three students from one group come to the platform. Two students of them make a dialogue based on the information in 2a. The third student reports a passage based on their dialogue. 6. Another student comes to the platform to share their works. 1. Finish 2a. Show the questions in 2a. Ask students to work in pairs. 2. Ask students to make a dialogue with the help of the five questions. Remind students to pay attention to the fifth question: Are you sure the Internet is good for us? 3. Invite students to practice the dialogue in class. Remind students to pay attention to the tone. 4. Finish 2b. Ask students to write a short passage based on the result of the interview in 2a. 5. The teacher invites students to show their works. Make sure everyone knows the rules. 6. Invite another group to show their works. Remind students: After an interview, you often need to write down the information in the form of a passage. Doing this can help you remember the information you interviewed. Production (8 minutes) 1. Students perform their dialogues in pair. 3. Students read the new words together and spell them at the same time. Review the “Grammar and Functions”. 4. Students finish these homework after class. Review Sections A-C to prepare for Section D. 1. Make a survey. Teacher says: “After studying the advantages and disadvantages of the Internet, what should you do from now on?” Teacher shows 2a to students again but changes the present tense into the future tense. 2. Teacher invites students to show their dialogues, and educates students not to waste too much time on the Internet. 3. Teacher summarizes the key points: (1) Words: perfect, true, cheat, safely, correct, search (2) Grammar : be sure that Are you sure the Internet is good for us? (3) Functions: subject+Vt.+Object+Obj- ect complement The Internet makes our lives easier and more interesting. 4. Homework: The homework includes three parts: ask students to (1) search for information of the advantages and disadvantages of the Internet. (2) Imitate 1a to write a passage about the advantages and the disadvantages of TV. (3) Review Sections A-C and prepare for Section D. Teaching Reflection This topic is closely related the students’ life. They like this topic and have many new ideas. They also like the debating. There are four new words in this passage. And some students can get the correct meaning with the help of 1b. So this part is easy for them to understand. Students are happy in this class.
