1. Key vocabulary: beat, careless, cheer…on, coach, fan club, against, train, practice, warm, warm up, usual , pleased, pass, chance, loudly, confident 2. Keys structure: Comparative adjectives (more); adverbs and comparative adverbs (-er, more); irregular comparatives. ⅤTeaching aids Recorder , OHP , video ⅥTeaching Steps Step 1 Revision 1. Guessing game. 1) Show some pictures.

2) According to the information given and ask the students to guess: What are they doing?

3) Show the pictures to check the answers. 2. Review the text of Unit 1. 3. Read the words after the teacher. Step 2 Learn new words. 1. Show some pictures.

2. Talk something about the pictures. 3. Introduce the new words.

1) train作动词,表示“训练,操练”作名词,表示“火车”。

We’re training harder than usual because the other school beat us last year. 我们比平时更努力训练,因为去年别的学校打败了我们。 His father goes to Shanghai by train. 他父亲坐火车去上海。

2) against 为介词,表示“反对,与……对抗” 。例如: 3) warm up 的意思是“热身,做准备活动” 。例如: The runners _________________ before the race. 赛跑选手正在做赛前热身。 Key: are warming up 4) coach n. 教练

5) careless adj. 粗心的;疏忽的 pass v. 传递;传送

Last year we were careless when we passed the ball and we lost to the other team. So this year we train more carefully. 6) fan club 球迷(或影迷,歌迷)俱乐部 cheer … on 用欢呼声激励;为……加油 7) loudly adv. 响亮地;大声地 quiet adj. 寂静的;安静的 4. Read the words after the teacher. Step 3 Work in pairs.

1. Ask the students to look at the pictures in Activity 1. 2. Talk about the pictures.

3. Use the words and expressions in the box to help you.
