Charles Plumb, a US Naval Academy graduate, was a jet fighter pilot in Vietnam. After 75 combat missions, his plane was __1__ by a surface-to-air missile. Plumb was __2__ and spent six years in prison in Vietnam. He survived and now __3__ about lessons learned from that experience.

One day, Plumb and his wife were sitting in a restaurant when a man at another table came up and said, “You're Plumb! You __4__ jet fighters in Vietnam from the aircraft carrier (航空母舰) Kitty Hawk. You were __5__ !”

“How in the world did you know that?” asked Plumb.

【要点综述】查尔斯·普拉姆在越战期间是一名喷气式战机飞行员,在一次任务中,他的飞机被地空导弹击落。他被弹射了出去。唯一能够从死亡的边缘挽救他的就是随身带的降落伞,所以他祈祷着伞能打开。结果,降落伞顺利打开了,查尔斯得以活着着陆。查尔斯没有忘记为他打包降落伞的人,正是这些平凡的人给了他渡过险境的机会和力量。
