Chip was in first grade when I arrived at his school as a counselor(辅导员).It was shocking to me that he was described as an angry, uncontrollable and evil(惹人厌的)boy. How could such a little boy, after being in school only one year, be considered\I came to know Chip welt enough to see that he was neither evil nor uncontrollable.
But, one day, Chip threw a chair a his teacher and was sent to my office. I asked him what made him do this, He replied that his teacher hated him He felt there was no way to ever get her to like him. I asked him if he would tell his teacher this. He nodded, and we called her into my office.

His teacher listened to him with heartfelt compassion. Then she gave him a big warm hug, telling him she didn’t hate him at all and, actually, she cared very much about him. Only sometimes Chip's behavior really scared her. It was clear to both Chip and me that she really meant it.
I put my left arm on his shoulders and the right hand on his heart. I told him how wonderful and lovely I saw him to be. I praised how special and brave he was to express his hurt feelings.
As I was speaking to him, his whole body came to rest on my right hand next to his heart. It was a moment in time unlike anything I had experienced before. From then on, I'm pleased to see his behavior improved through the rest of school years .A child's mind is clear and sensitive(aEA). He receives whatever others say without protection. Aren’t mobile phone, e-mail and voice mail supposed to help us communicate more easily?Sadly, that’s not always the case.Take the other day for example ,when I was walking through the park with my friend ,suddenly his mobile phone rang and he answered it-leaving me alone and cutting our conversation dead!In fact ,the park was filled with people talking on their mobile phone .They were passing other people without even looking at them, or stopping to walk their dogs. Clearly, people preferred talking on the phone to face-to face contacting.
Why is it that the more, connected we get, the more disconnected I feel? New communication technology seems to keep people away from each other. With e-mail over the Internet. We can communicate without seeing or talking to one another. With Wechat or CQ, you can have conversations without even meeting that person. Even some food stores are using self- scanners(自助扫描仪) so that you can check yourself out。 As the contact(联系) between human beings becomes automated自动化的), my feeling of being disconnected gets stronger. Don’t get me wrong. I'm not against machines. I also own a mobile phone, a QQ, a Wechat and an e-mail account. Giving them up isn't a good idea,as they are useful to have around, It's just that when they keep us away from human contact, I begin to feel sad. More and more, I find myself answering e-mail instead of talking to people. The technology that helps keep us in contact with each other is, in fact making me feel more lonely.
What is to be done? Well, try to use less technology: no e-mailing people who live nearby, and no letting QQ and Wechat catch you all the time.

It can be inferred from the Paragraph 2 that_________ A.technology keeps people busy than before B. technology is always useful to have around C. the writer is going to give up phones D. the writer would like to contact face to face 26. Which is the best title of the passage? A. Technology and Human Life
B. The Importance of Technology C. Technology and Human Contact D.The Development of Technology

When settlers (移民)came to America during the 1600s, they were surprised to find so many trees. Some trees were so huge that a large man could not put his arms around them. Those trees helped the settlers a lot. They were glad and thankful to have these trees. They used them to build houses and make fire. From the wood of the trees, they made furniture, tools and so on. Most people thought the forests would last forever. However, by 1800, America had its first wood shortage (短缺). How did it happen? People had not known that trees were being cut down faster than new ones could grow. Some American people made trips to foreign countries. There they saw destroyed forests and learned the importance of protecting forests. They came back to the United States and warned that if Americans didn’t use trees more carefully and wisely, someday the forests would all be gone. However, people were not ready to listen. Years went by, and America’s forests kept disappearing. It made some people really worried. But they did nothing. Finally, J. Sterling Morton, the man who is remembered as the father of Arbor Day (过节), got people to listen. He named a Tree-Planting Day, or Arbor Day. He worked hard to make Arbor Day a national holiday. On that day, people usually plant a lot of trees. Today, millions of trees have been planted in the United States because of Arbor Day. Arbor Day is such a good idea that many other countries now also have Arbor Day. Many, many trees are being planted all over the world because of J. Sterling Morton’s work.
