I have just received your letter and I am glad to know that you are coming to study in my college.

I have been studying English for two months now and I can assure you that I have made a lot of progress. The teachers are very kind and helpful and I have met a lot of people of different nationalities. It is very interesting and I like it very much. We have four hours of intensive courses in the morning and we are free in the afternoon. The social program is very well organized and we have the possibility of having activities at a special price.

I thought it would be wonderful if you could stay in the same house as me and I spoke to my landlady. She said that there is no problem because her house is very spacious and there is enough room. It is not very expensive and if you agree I will give you more details in my next letter.

Thanks for your letter – it was such a surprise to hear from you after all this time!

I must apologize for not keeping in touch. I’m afraid I’m such a terrible letter writer.

I’m so glad to hear you and Eileen are well and happy and that the kids are getting on well in their new school.

Since I last saw you my life has changed quite radically. I’m married now; I’ve changed my job and we’ve just moved house! I won’t go into it all now – it’s much too long a story!

How about meeting up soon? Now that you’re back in the country perhaps we could all get together one weekend? How do you feel about coming up to Cambridge at Easter? Let me know if you can come. There’s plenty of room for you all here.

I am writing to complain about a hair bought in your shop last Saturday and about the treatment I received when I tried to return it a few days later.

I bought the hair drier – a RAAVLON 405—on Wednesday 22nd November. The first time I tried to use it the handle became extremely hot and within a few minutes part of the plastic casting began to melt. I turned it off immediately and returned it with the receipt to your shop on Saturday.

I explained the situation to one of the assistants and asked for my money back but was told I had to speak to you. Unfortunately you were not available that day so I am writing instead.

I enclose the hair drier and a copy of the original receipt. Please send me a full refund as soon as possible.
