Unit 7 Would you mind keeping your voice down? (P58-59)

Teaching aims:

1. Knowledge objectives:

⑴Students understand and know how to read and use the new words and phases: etiquette, impolite behavior, in public, drop litter, pick up litter, keep…down, break the rule. etc. ⑵Master and use the sentence structures: Would you mind (not) doing something? Could you please (not) do something? 2.Ability objectives: Train the students’ reading and writing skills.

3.Moral objectives: Learn to follow the rules of etiquette, give suggestions politely, Important and difficult points:

1. Use the sentence structures.

2. Train the students’ reading and writing skills.

Step1. Warming up (before the class).

Ask “what have you seen?”to talk about the video and the pictures.

Step 2. Pre-reading

Learn some new words and phrases by learning the opposition of them.

drop litter -------------pick up litter talk loudly-------------keep voice down cut in line -------------join the line smoke in public------put out cigarette Ask: Are they polite or impolite?

impolite behavior----polite behavior break the rule --------follow the rule Read after the teacher, then read together.. Step 3. While-reading

1.Read the whole article and find out what the article is about. Using a word to summarize. Then get the students to circle the word “etiquette” in every paragragh. 2.Read the article again, match the main idea with each paragraph.

a. If we see someone breaking the rules of etiquette, we may politely give them some

suggestions.

b. Etiquette is not the same in every culture or in every situation c. Sometimes, rules of etiquette are the same almost everywhere. d. Etiquette is normal and polite social behavior. Ask: How could you find out the main ideas so quickly?

Get the students to underline the sentences and read them.

Then sum up the reading strategy -----to find“topic sentences”.Ask: Where are the topic sentences in the paragragh?

3. ①Read paragraph 1and fill in the blanks.

What’s the meaning of etiquette? It means ______ and _______ social ___________. ②Ask: Is etipuette the same or different in different cultures and different situations? Read the first sentence and tell me the answer. OR Could you please (not) ______ something? solutions(问题及them some suggestions. We can say: Would you mind (not) Sameness(相同处) Sometimes rules of etiquette are_________ almost everywhere, such as… So everyone should follow the rules of etiquette to make our world more and more beautiful. (2)Analyze the structure of the article, then ask them to retell the article with the help of the chart.

1. Discuss in groups, list some impolite behaviors at school and give some suggestions politely. 2. Write a proposal.

First of all, we’re very glad that you can read the proposal.

Our school is nice and clean. But sometimes there is someone spitting, _______________ or _______________. To make our school more beautiful, could you go up and say:
