Gradually, I am paying attention to an old man, he is in his 60s, in his 20s. and grey hair.senior citizen The reason why I am paying attention to him is because of his fluent English, sense of humor and his broad vision and prospect about his life. After talking to him for several times, I understand that he has been retired for 20 years from a retail company( an English school) in Jilin city, finding himself very bored after retirement, and he decided to do something to kill time, so he came to English corner every week. Every one was really amazed by his English speaking skills, when asked how could he get his English so well, he told us it was all for the considerable practice and the most important thing- perseverance. There is no doubt he is a really determined and

persistent person, because usually in china, people in his age are normally illiterate or their ambitions have almost gone. He loves telling jokes, every time at the English corner, he could always come up with funny ideas, and all the students would laugh so hard after his speech. He likes to use analogies and metaphors to say his point of views, which always make his speech and descriptions so vivid. Every one at the English corner respects him a lot, including me. Not only because he speaks great English, but also his prospect vision. “ English will be the most universal

language in the 21 century.” Absolutely! After talking to him, we exchanged phone numbers and became good friends, whenever we are hanging out with each other, we will speak English, so that both of us could get improvement. His ambition and strong will impress me the most, his broad horizon and powerful mind are so respectable that I think he has put great

influence on me, I wish I could be similar to him when I am at his age, or at least have a big heart, ready to accept any type of new things, making my life more colorful. He is indeed a role model for all we youngsters.
