Sun Yat-sen (November 12, 1866 - March 12, 1925)was a famous person in chinese history as he was regarded as a Chinese revolutionary leader and statesman, the founder of the Kuomintang and the first provisional president of the Republic of China.In Tailand,he was usually called Father of China .On the mainland ,Sun was highly regarded as well.
He was born in a peasant family, Xiangshan County of Guangdong Province, in southern China. When he was 13,he went to Honolulu, Hawaii. There Sun studied medicine and got a medical degree in the Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese.In that city ,he helped mang people with his good skills In October 1894 he founded the Xing Zhong Society. The goal of this society is to against Qing Danasty and prospery China.Sun met many young people who has the same goal.Unfortunatelyi,one of Sun’s coups failed in 1895, and Sun had to exile in Europe, the United States, Canada, and Japan, raising money for his revolutionary party. In Japan he founded the Tongmenghui and soon became their leader.
On October 10 1911, the famous military revolution at Wuchang had a significant meanings. It began a process that ended five thousand years of imperial rule in China. Sun immediately returned to China from the United States. In fact,Sun didn’t lead the 1911 revolution.The direct leader was HuangXing ,one of Sun’s best friends.However,we can’t neglect Sun’ s role.In 1912,representatives from provinces elected Sun as the provisional President of the Republic of China .The govornment elected in NanJing.Soon the provisional law of the Republic were declared as the basic law of the country by the Assembly.
However,the provisional government declared by Sun was very weak.. Most of the northern provinces had not declare independence from the Qing Dynasty. Moreover, the provisional government did not have its own military
forces and it had no much money.In order to achieve the government’s goal.Sun asked for Yuanshikai’s help. Yuan sided with the revolution and forced the emperor to abdicate. Yuan became the presidency of the new Republic.Yuan wanted to be emperor again,so Sun led an unsuccessful revolt against Yuan, and he was forced to exile to Japan, where he reorganized the Kuomintang.
Soong Ching-ling, one of the Soong sisters, was a famous person too.Sun and Soong fell in love and they got married.The new Republic had many problems. In 1923, Sun proclaimed his Three Principles of the People as the foundation of the country .Sun established the Whampoa Military Academy which is called Huangpu Military Academy now near Guangzhou.Sun asked JiangJieshi as its commandant .In order to develop the Kuomintang ,Sun received help from the Comintern and later he began a policy of active cooperation with the Chinese Communists.
In March 1925 he died of liver cancer in Beijing at the age of 59. Sun Yat-sen remains very famous among 20th-century Chinese leaders both in mainland China and in Taiwan. In Taiwan, we can easily see Sun’s pictures.
On the Mainland, Sun is also highly regarded. We often regard him as the beginner of the process to democratic.The Three Principles ot the People is also of vital importance.Especially,in 2011,the 100 anniversary of Xinhai Revolutionary,Sun becomes a popular person.We will never forget him,the great forthgoer.
