定语从句讲解(1)
一:定义
定语:定语是对名词或代词起_______、_______作用的词、短语或句子,汉语中常用“…的”来表示。如his books、beautiful girls等。
定语从句:在复合句中,修饰某一名词或者代词用作定语的句子就叫做定语从句。被修饰的词叫___________。定语从句由__________________________引导,需要放在被修饰的词(即先行词)之后。
二:关系代词
1. 关系代词:________, ________, ________, ________,________. E.g. He who laughs last laughs best. *关系代词在先行词和定语从句之间起着三个作用:______________, _______________________和_______________________.
2. 观察下列句子,注意关系代词的用法。
a. The man who/that spoke to the headmaster just now is our physics teacher. b. The woman (who/whom/that) we met at the school gate is Wang Wei’s mother. c. The house which/that is being built there belongs to Mr. Bill. d. Parents should pay attention to the books (which/that) their kids read. e. My cousin is no longer the man (that) he used to be. f. This is the famous doctor whose daughter teaches in our school. g. Would you please pass me the book whose cover is blue? 自我归纳:

三. Presentation

四. 宜用that 而不用which的情况
1. 先行词由all, much, little, everything, anything, nothing, none, few, the one 等_______________修饰时:
e.g. I mean the one that was bought yesterday.
2. 先行词被形容词________或被only, any, few, little, no, all, one of 修饰时: e.g. It is the most important task that should be finished soon. 3. 先行词为基数词或被序数词修饰时:
e.g. Look at these flowers. You can see the two that you gave me. 4. 先行词中既有____又有____时:
e.g. We were deeply impressed by the teachers and the schools (that) we had visited. 5. 先行词在主句中作______或关系代词在从句中做_____时: e.g. It's a book that will help you a lot.
My home town is no longer the place that it used to be.

二:关系副词

1. 关系副词 where This is the factory.

This is the factory where/in which I worked ten years ago.
总结:where 引导的定语从句修饰表示_______ 的名词,并在定语从句中作______________, 相当于“介词in/at等 + which”.
练习: The school is near a park. My son studies in this school.

2. 关系副词 when
They will never forget July 1.
Hong Kong returned (回归) to its motherland on July 1.
They will never forget July 1 when/on which Hong Kong returned to its motherland.
总结:when 引导的定语从句修饰表示________ 的名词,在定语从句中作_____________, 相当于 “介词_______________ + which”. 练习: The days are gone forever.
