什么是化学？化学是研究物质的组成，结构，性质以及变化规律的科学。

人类认识化学并使之成为一门独立的学科，经过了漫长的历程。古时候，人们为了生存，在与自然界的种种灾难进行抗争中，发现和利用了火。火的发现和利用，改善了人类的生存条件，并使人类变得聪明而强大。继而人类又陆续发现了一些物质的变化，如发现在翠绿色的孔雀石等铜矿石上面燃烧炭火，会有红色的铜生成。就像这样，人类在逐步了解和利用这些物质变化的过程中，制得了对人类生存具有实用价值的产品，如陶瓷，铜器，铁器，纸，火药，酒，染料等，为人类提供了更多的生活和生产资料，人类越来越离不开化学了。 化学还是一门以实验为基础的学科。

的。说起来你也许会感到惊讶，现在的化学实验室的前身是炼丹术士和炼金术士的作坊。炼丹术士幻想通过炼丹发明长生不老的药；炼金术士幻想通过“点石成金”使贱金属变成贵金属。尽管他们的想法和做法都是脱离实际的，但通过炼丹和炼金，发明了许多化学实验器具，用时也积累了大量的化学知识，发明了一些用于合成和分离物质的有效方法，如过滤，蒸馏等，为化学发展成为一门科学做出了贡献。

学习化学的一个重要途径是实验，通过实验以及对实验现象的观察，记录和分析等，可以发现和验证化学原理，学习科学探究的方法并获得化学知识。

但是在很长的时间里，人类对化学的认识还只停留在表象阶段。到了近代，道尔顿和阿伏伽德罗等科学家的研究，得出了一个重要的结论：物质是由原子和分子构

成的，分子的破裂和原子的重新组合是化学变化的基础。这就是说，在化学变化中分子会破裂，而原子不会破裂，但可重新组合成新的分子。这些观点是认识和分析化学现象及其本质的基础。原子论和分子学说的创立，奠定了近代化学的基础。

1869年，门捷列夫发现了元素周期律并编制出元素周期表，在元素周期律指导下，利用元素之间的一些规律性知识来分类学习物质的性质，就使化学学习和研究变得有规律可循。

现在，化学科学家们已能利用各种先进的仪器和分析技术对化学世界进行微观的探索，并正在探索纳米技术制造出具有特定功能的产品，使化学在材料，能源，环境和生命科学等研究上发挥越来越重要的作用。 近年来，绿色化学的提出，使更多的化学生产工艺和
