And we got the following answers. Please listen and fill in the blanks in the first chart. In 2009 200 students in No. 1 School took part in the English competition. In 2010 there were 100 more students joining the competition, that is 300. In 2011 we had 500 students all together. What about the Ss in No.2 School? In 2009 they had the same number of Ss as us. But in 2010 they had 400 students in the competition. What’s more, in 2011 their number of Ss reached 800. Can you write down all the numbers? Well done! With all the information here, I’m sure you can make a bar chart easily. Next, I want to teach you how to read a bar chart. Look at the bar chart on your paper. Can you see the white and black squares? The white ones stand for No.1 School while the black ones stand for No. 2 School. And can you see the 4 letters A B C and D. They stand for the 4 English skills. From right to left, they should be Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. Ok, now can you understand the bar chart? Can you read it by yourself?
