确定填哪类词的具体方法有：
※思路①：缺主语或宾语，很可能是填代词(因为一般不会要求考生填名词)。

思路③：名词或代词前面是空格，而该名词或代词在句中不作主语、表语、宾语时，很可能是填介词。

※思路④ ：若两句之间没有连词，也没有分号或句号，一定是填连接词。如when, after, before, since, until, if, because, so, but, while, although, unless等。

※思路⑤ ：确定为定语从句后，先看先行词是人、物、时间、地点等，再判断引导词在从句中的成分，最后填入合适的关键词。

(2)词类转换题。
根据该词在句中所作句子成分来确定用哪种形式。具体方法有： ※思路①：修饰动词、形容词或副词作状语，用副词形式。

※思路②：有可能是词义转换题，词类不用变，主要是考查具有与词根意义相反的派生词，或者形容词的比较级、最高级等，需根据句子意思及前后逻辑关系，在词根前加un-, im-等，在词根后加-less, -er, -est等。
［例10］ The water was simply the container for an act of kindness and love. Nothing could be 39 (sweet).\
※思路③：作表语、定语或补语，通常用形容词形式。
［例11］ This proverb is saying we have to let things go in their 39 (nature) course. (2008年广东)
※思路④：在冠词、形容词性物主代词后，或者“冠词+形容词”后，用名词形式。 ［例12］ On his 31 (arrive), he parked his bike outside the back door as usual. (2010年深圳二模)

首先，要确定是谓语动词还是非谓语动词。

若句中已有谓语动词，又不是并列谓语时，所给动词就是非谓语动词。若是非谓语动词就要确定用-ing形式、-ed形式，还是用不定式。
※思路①：作主语或宾语，通常用—ing形式表示习惯或一般情况，用不定式表示具体的情况。
［例14］I hated ________ (wait) for her for hours without _______(know) when on earth she would come.
※思路②：作目的状语、结果状语、形容词后的状语，一般用不定式。
［例15］ She wished that he was as easy 32 (please) as her mother, who was always delighted with perfume.

※思路③：若判断用分词，与逻辑主语是主动关系用—ing形式，是被动关系用—ed形式。 ［例17］ The computer _______(use) for this purpose is programmed to be friendly.
