1） I will wait there until/till you come back.

我将一直在那里等到你回来。

Wait是一个延续性的动词，表示其动作一直要延续到你回来为止。

2） Yesterday evening he had been watching TV until his daughter went to bed.

昨晚他一直看电视直到他女儿上床睡觉。

Watch 是一个延续性的动词，表示其动作一直延续到他女儿上床睡觉这个时间。

例如：

1） I did not begin to watch TV until he came back. 直到他回来我才开始看电视。

Begin是一个短暂性的动词，表示其动作直到他回来时才发生。 2） We won’t stop talking until the teacher comes in. 直到老师进来我们才会停止讲话。

Stop是一个短暂性的动词，其动作要在老师进来这个动作发生的时候才发生。 3） I didn‘t understand it until you had explained it. 直到你解释过了我才懂。

Understand 是一个心理状态的动词。

3.until 和till的区别：till不能用在句首，也不能用在not开头的短语或从句里，而until可以。

4. 连词until引导的从句中谓语动词的时态。

2） 主句中的谓语动词为一般过去时时，从句中谓语动词用一般过去时强调时间；从句中的谓语动词为过去完成时，用来强调从句谓语动词的动作发生在主句谓语动词表示的动作之前。 试比较：

a. He didn’t come until the film had begun.

例如： They didn’t go out _______ it stopped raining . A. as B. when C. after D. until 答案：D.

解析：只要有语感的同学一看就知道是句型not...until...

例如：

a.I had never seen him until 1990. 1999年以前我从未见过他。

b.Never put off what you can do today till tomorrow. 今日事，今日毕。

C. Little was done until he came back. 他回来前几乎没有采取措施。

d.Nothing can drag me away from the games until my mother comes back. 直到我妈妈回来我才会不玩游戏了。

a. The students didn’t stop talking until the teacher came in. 直到老师进来学生们才停止讲话。 变为倒装结构：

Not until the teacher came in did the students stop talking. b. Our class meeting won’t be held until next week. 直到下周才开班会。 变为倒装结构：

Not until next week will our class meeting be held.

c. Not until the early years of the 19th century did man know what heat is. 直到19 世纪初，人类才知道热能是什么。

d. Not until I failed again did I realize how much time I had wasted. 直到我又失败了，我才认识到了我已蹉跎了几多岁月。

6. 活学活用：

将下面的句子翻译成英语然后分别把他们改成倒装结构和强调结构： a. 直到我中学毕业我爸爸才会给我买手机。

My father won’t buy me a cellphone until I finish my middle school.

倒装：Not until I finish my middle school will my father buy me a cellphone. 强调：It is not until I finish my middle school that my my father will buy me a cellphone.

You can not find English a bridge to much knowledge until you have learned it. 倒装：Not until you have learned English can you find it a bridge to much knowledge. 强调：It is not until you have learned English that you can find it a bridge to much knowledge.
