77. He said what ... what → that或去掉what 78. ... to me surprise ... me → my 79. ... a bigger book ... bigger → big 80. ... was selling ... was → were 81. ... he was interested ... interested后加in 82. See my brother ... See → Seeing 83. ... loved the book ... book → books 84. ... the good way ... the → a 85. ... make full use about ... about → of 部分解析:

21. A。news为不可数名词,在此表泛指,故其前不用冠词;come straight to the point开门见山地谈。beat about the bush意为“讲话绕圈子”。

25. A。由became blind及faced the future with great courage可知,主从句之间为转折关系,故用Although。 26. B。由talked happily, but及started an attack against each other可知应选sharp(刻薄的)。

28. D。由I failed the exam again可知,“好运(fortune)很少与我有缘”。

29. C。 get sth. from ...

30. C。adapt to ... 31. B。由I can’t find my watch anywhere可知,hide表示的动作已经完成,故用“情态动词+ have done”形式;且由语境可知,后句应表示对过去发生事情的肯定猜测,故选B项。must have done表示“过去一定做过某事”;should have done表示“过去本应该做某事而没有做”。

32. A。由there’s no need to get angry可知,前一分句意为“凯特,如果你觉得自己对就平静地(calmly)说出来”。

33. B。由Nearly everyone coming here wants to taste it可知“我们镇产的酒享有质优的名声(reputation)”。 34. A。

35. D。由I really admire him可知,D项He’s quite something(他真了不起)符合语境。 That couldn’t be better这再好不过了;You can’t be serious你不可能是认真的。

42. D。根据he stood on a fishing hook and got it stuck in his foot可知,Peter“受伤(hurt)”了。

45. C。cried out及Poor Peter lay on his back until he felt better等信息都显示出Peter让作者停下来是因为“疼(pain)”。

46. B。 47. A。 48. C。根据we had run out of petrol可知,Peter是在找“备用的(spare)”油桶。 49. D。

52. A。 53. A。
