形容词／副词的比较结构是英语考试的考查要点。比较结构除了其基本形式之外，还有其变体形式，因而呈现出较为复杂的情况。形容词／副词的比较结构最主要的有三种：as…as结构，more…than结构和the most…结构。more…than结构和the most…结构又有综合式和分析式之分。综合式即在原级后加-er,-est构成比较级和最高级；分析式即在原级前加more,most构成比较级和最高级。

介词又叫前置词，是一种虚词，用来表示其后的名词(或相当于名词的词、短语或从句)与其他句子成分的关系。介词不能单独作句子成分，只有和其后的词(叫作介词宾语)构成介词短语才能在句子中充当某些成分，如作定语、状语、表语、宾语补足语等。按照介词的构成，介词可分为3类：①简单介词，即由一个词构成的介词，如in,at,among等，其中包括由两个简单介词组合成的合成介词，如inside,without,throughout等，还包括由V-ing形式和V-ed形式转化而来的分词介词，如considering,including,given等；②双重介词，它由两个简单介词组成，如from among(从……当中)，from behind(从……的后面)，until after(直到……之后)等;③短语介词，它由一个或两个简单介词和一个或几个其他词类的词组合成一个短语，作用相当于一个介词，短语介词的末尾总是一个简单介词，如according to,because of,in favour of,in spite of等。对介词的考查主要体现在简单介词、短语介词及介词与其他词类的搭配上。
