Good afternoon, everyone! Today I want to give a presentation about feminism.

We could often hear someone says “lady first”. However, If we have noticed our surrounding lives, we can find many gender discrimination.

For example, some girls don’t have the opportunities to get the education while boys are sent to school. andmany companies refuse to employ women because women will get married and deliver babys.

Besides, in normal circumstances,the proportion of male births and female births is 105 to 100,. While in China, the proportion is 119:100, some provinces even up to 130:100. Which means, many girls even don’t have the right to see the world, it is cruel.

Therefore, some people stand out to protect women’s rights, we call them feminists. However, when it refers to feminist, many people will connect with some negative words like rude, aggressive, isolating, men-hating.

I think the misunderstandings should be clarified, let’s see what is real feminism.

The definition is, women should have equal political, social, economic, sexual, intellectual rights to men.

The equality, means the same human dignity and respect , not the same in every tiny field. We all know that men and women have their physical

differences, it is nature. What we are urging is that women can get the same respect when do the same things as men.

And as a feminist, it doesn’t mean that you will make a demonstration crazely, or won’t get in touch with men. In fact, If you believe in equality, you might be one of the feminists .

This is Emma Watson, an actress who is famous for the performance in Harry Potter. She has delivered a speech about feminism in a congress of UN.

She said in her life, her parents didn’t love her lessbecause she was born a daughter. Her school did not limit her because she was a girl. Her tutors didn’t judge that she would go less far because she might deliver a child one day.

Those people are all the gender equality ambassadors. They may not knew that, but they are theinadvertent feminists.

In the end, I want to say, It is not the word that is important but theidea and the ambition behind it. We hope that there is no gender discrimination, and we don’t need privilege either, we just want to do things by our capacities.
