1. 1) Helen is talking with Bob on the phone.（提问）

2. How do you like … ? = what do you think of?

eg：1) How do you like the movie? = What do you think of the moive? 2) How do you like living there? （同义句）

= What do you think of living there? 3. get used to doing sth = beused to doing sth：习惯于做…

eg： 1) Lily is used to going to bed early. = Lily gets used to going to bed early.

2) My father is / gets to (smoke). It’s bad for his lungs.

4. 含有used的句子变成一般疑问句时在句首加Did, 加了Did之后，后面的used去掉d还原成use；含有used的句子变成否定句时，在used的前面加didn’t，加了didn’t之后，后面的used去掉d还原成use. eg：1）I used to enjoy listening to pop music. （改为一般疑问句）

Did you use to enjoy listening to pop music?

2) My sister used to play the piano. （改为否定句）

My sister didn’t use to play the piano. 3) Jane used to be a teacher. （改为一般疑问句）

5. Isn’t it dangerous there? 在那儿难道它不危险吗？

这是一个反问句，在英语中，反问句也可称为否定疑问句，常译为难道不…吗？ 结构为：be / 助动词 /情态动词的否定 + 主语 + 谓语 + …

eg：1）Didn’t he go to the park yesterday? 2) Can’t Lily play the piano? 3) Hasn’ t Jim been to the Great Wall?

4) Won’t they go climbing next Sunday?

注意：在回答反问句时，要反着译即Yes译为No， No译为Yes.

6. provide sb with sth = provide sth for sb 为某人提供某物

eg：1) The government often provides homeless people with houses. （同义句） = The government often provides houses for homeless people.

2) My uncle provided the poor girl with some clothes last month.（同义句） = My uncle provided some clothes for th poor girl.

7. so that = in order that = in order to 为的是；以便于

eg：1) Lily got up early this morning so that she could catch the first bus. （同义句） = Lily got up early this morning in order that she could catch the first bus.

= Lily got up early this morning in order to catch the first bus.

8. feel good about 对 …好

feel good about oneself 自我感觉良好 eg：1) Do you often feel about yourself? 2) Do you feel good about this hairstyle?

9. thanks to 多亏，由于 有时可与because of 替换

eg: Thanks to the one-child policy, the world has changed for the better. (同义句）

= Because of the one-child policy, the world has changed for the better.

10. It is + 形容词 + for sb + to do sth：做....

对某人来说它是....样的

eg：1) It is difficult for me to learn English well.

2) It is good for our eyes to do eye exercises.

11. not only … but also … 不但 …而且 …

not only …but also …与both … and 同义 所不同的是 not onlly…but also…连接两个主语时应采用就近原则 ，即后面的谓语应根据also后面的人称来确定

eg：1) Not only Lily but also I am a teacher.

= Both Lily and Lucy are teachers. (like) English. =

eg：1）Chongqing is famous for its hot food, 2) Jay zhou is famous as a singer. 2. borrow 借 (借进)

borrow sth from sb 向某人借某物 lend 借 （借出）

lend sb sth = lend sth to sb 借某物给某人

eg：1）I borrowed an English book from

Jim just now. （同义句） = Jim lent an English book to

me just now.

2) Lily borrowed a CD from Miss

Gao yesterday. （同义句）

3. rent sth from sb 向某人租用某物 rent sb sth = rent sth to sb 租某物给某

人

4. buy sb sth = buy sth for sb 为某人买某

物

5. prepare for = get ready for 为…作准备 eg:：1) Lily is preparing for the coming

English exam. （同义句）

soccer game next Friday. 6. at the same time 同时 on time 按时 in time 及时

at times = sometimes 有时 once upon a time 从前 7. return 归还；返回

return sth to sb = give sth back to sb 归还某物给某人

return to +地点 = go back to + 地点 返回到某地
