STEP 1: Pretest (20’) 【Methods& Teaching Aids】: Oral response; PPT

[Note]:分会展前,会展中,会展后三个环节,通过课堂提问,小组讨论、角色扮演的形式来检验学生课前准备情况;通过多媒体教学辅助手段来强化听说实训技能。要求学生在课前已经做好了相应的资料收集工作,课堂上以小组的形式进行汇总,教师肯定学生提供的一些内容,并加以提炼。

Before the Exhibition:

? Pretest Task 1: Discuss a list of reasons to exhibit according to your experience

Listening to the presentation and decide if the following statements are true or false.

The Guangzhou Modern International Exhibition Centre was founded in December 2000, in a landscaped area of 330,000 square metres. Currently, there are 4 separate exhibition halls providing 150,000square metres of indoor exhibition space which is capable of holding 5,500

international standard trade booths. The Conference Centre is able to provide 11 conference rooms, with sizes ranging from 85 to 2,400 square metres. A simultaneous interpretation system is available in the conference rooms. The largest multipurpose conference room is equipped with a revolving stage and is suitable for gala performances.

Scrip 2 Li Yan has received an invitation to China Import and Export Fair in Guangzhou. Now he is talking with Zhang Jian about the exhibition.

L: Mr. Zhang, we’ve just received an invitation to China Import and Export Fair in Guangzhou with the participation fee of RMB20,000. Do you think we could accept the invitation?

Z: To be frank, the fee is quite reasonable for such an exposure. The possibility of participation mainly depends on its effectiveness.

L: Effectiveness? I’d like to have your idea on effectiveness.

Listen to the dialogue between a sales representative of a golf manufacturing company, Golf Pro, and a potential customer at an international golf fair. Mr. Hubert: Good morning. Mr. Usuki: Good morning. Mr. Hubert: Can I help you?

Mr. Usuki: Er, thank you, but I’m just looking at the moment.

Mr. Hubert: Yes, please do. Have you come across our products before? Mr. Usuki: I think I have heard of them.

Mr. Hubert: We’re relatively new but Golf Pro is acquiring a reputation very quickly. We have become one of the world leaders in metal woods.

Mr. Usuki: Really? Well, actually I’m quite interested in metal woods. Could you tell me what the prices are for this range?

Mr. Hubert: Of course. The prices start at £ 90 and they go up to £149. Mr. Usuki: Did you say £149?

Mr. Hubert: That’s right. I wonder if you would be interested in our new range of ladies’ clubs as well?

Mr. Usuki: Well, possibly. Could you give me the prices, please?

Mr. Hubert: Yes. The range is called Golf Pro Lady and a full set of nine irons comes to £465. A set of the three woods is £240 and putters are £46 each. Mr. Usuki: Sorry, that was £46 each, wasn’t it? Mr. Hubert: Yes, £46 each..

Mr. Usuki: Right, thank you. Could you give me some information about your top of the range clubs as well?

Mr. Hubert: Of course. That’s our Golf Pro X. This is really state-of-the-art when it comes to professional clubs. A set of nine irons comes to 835. Very reasonable, I think you’ll agree. Mr. Usuki: Mmm, not bad.
