这几个句子我们可以知道:主语是由名词、代词及其它具有名词性质的词来充当的。 谓语通常是主语发出的动作。我们来看两个句子:He runs fast. 他跑得快。在这个句子里,run是主语he发出的动作,因此,run是这个句子的谓语;再看第二个句子:Some dogs just like to run after cats. 一些狗就是喜欢跟在猫后面跑。在这个句子里,like to run after cats是主语some dogs发出的动作,因此,like to run after cats就是该句的谓语。由这两个句子我们可以知道谓语一般由动词或动词短语来充当。
宾语是谓语动词所涉及的对象。宾语分直接宾语和间接宾语两种。下面我们来看两个句子:Some boys like football very much. 一些男孩非常喜欢足球。这里,football是like涉及的对象,因此,它是宾语;He passed me a glass of milk just now.刚才,他递给我一杯牛奶。在这个句子里有两个宾语,即me和a glass of milk. 其中,a glass of milk是pass直接涉及的对象,因此,它是direct object直接宾语, 而me则是indirect object间接宾语.在这样的句式中,我们通常用物sth.来做直接宾语,用人sb.来做间接宾语。总之,宾语一般是由名词、代词及其它具有名词性质的词来充当。
那么,我们用什么来描述宾语,补充说明宾语的状态呢?那就要用到object complement宾语补足语了。英语中通常用什么来做宾语补足语呢?我们来看四个句子:If you let me go, I‘ll make you king. 如果你让我走,我将让你成为国王。在这句话里,king在第二个简单句中补充说明you的身份,我们认为king就是宾语补足语。Don‘t make your .男孩命令狗躺下。这里,to lie down告诉我们男孩命令狗做了什么,因此,它就是这个句子的宾语补足语。I saw is tall and strong.这个警察高而强壮。这里的tall and strong是用来描述主语the policeman的外形的,这是以形容词短语来充当句子的表语;The dish smells nice.这道菜闻起来不错。这里的nice用来表示闻起来怎么样,这是以形容词来充当句子的表语,同样跟在其它感观动词taste,sound,feel,look 后的形容词也在句中作表语;All of them are doctors.他们所有人都是医生。这里的doctors是对他们身份的说明,这是用名词来充当表语的。因此,表语可以由名词或形容词短语来充当。 What is an attributive?什么是定语呢?我们先来看两个句子:Jim is one of the excellent students in thenewspaper? 你在报纸上有没有发现什么有趣的新闻啊?这里用形容词interesting修饰不定代词anything, interesting就是该句的定语。同样是形容词做定语,请注意这两个定语的位置:即名词前,不定代词之后。
13 What else can be an attributive?还有什么能作定语呢?I am a woman teacher. 我是一名女教师。这里我们用woman来修饰teacher, 这是用名词作定语;Do you know the man under the tree?你认识树下的那个男士吗?这里的under the tree是一个介词短语,我们用它后置于名词man后作定语。由此可见,定语是由形容词、名词或介词短语来充当的。
Finally, let‘s come to adverbial. 最后,让我们了解一下状语。同样来看几个句子:Don‘t give up easily. 不要轻易放弃。这里我们用副词easily修饰动词词组give up, easily即为这个句子的状语;We will go to school by bike.我们将骑车去上学。在这句话里,by bike告诉了我们上学的方式,因此,它是该句的方式状语。对于这两句的状语,我们可以用how来提问。再来看一个句子:He is on )
