1.教学内容分析与要求
本单元阅读部分承载着整个单元中最重要的语言和文化信息,也是教师在整个教学过程中需要重点处理的部分。要求学生提前预习生词和短语,在4~5分钟内完成快速阅读理解,回答practice中的问题。精读后能复述课文,并掌握本单元教学目标中提出的key words和useful expressions的基本用法。
1)语言知识与语言技能要点及要求
(1)掌握本单元教学目标中提出的key words和useful expressions的基本用法。 (2)掌握关系代词who,whom,which,that,whose引导的定语从句的基本用法。 (3)通过限时阅读课文,能完成五个选择题和回答课后的5个问题,并能正确理解文章内容。
2)情感态度与价值观目标
(1)培养学生自主学习意识,小组合作学习、探究学习的良好习惯。
(2)培养学生敢于克服学习中遇到的困难以及如何找到解决问题的方法和途径。
(3)通过对课文的学习,让学生了解金钱并不是人生的全部。培养学生正确的人生观和价值观。
3)重点与难点
重点:(1)熟练掌握下列词汇和短语: publish, unhappy,wear,clothes,drive,unless,instead,society,attention,though, accept,afford,proud,honest,above,valuable,realize,be different from, remind of, instead of, be proud of, earn one’s living,show off, grow up,cheer up,on earth等。
(2)关系代词who,whom,which,that,whose引导的定语从句的基本用法。 难点:研讨并表述“金钱如此重要吗?”的正确看法。 4)应达到的标准
(1)通过对课文中重点词汇和短语的学习,能正确使用、并能顺利完成相关基础练习。 (2)掌握定语从句的基本构成形式和关系代词who,whom,which,that,whose引导的定语从句的基本用法。
(3)读懂课文内容,表述对“金钱如此重要吗?”的正确看法。 2.教学建议 1)导入
提出以下问题,引导学生议论,回答: Do you like money? Why do you like money?
What will you do if you have enough money?
Do you admire those who have a lot of money? Why? 通过对问题的回答,导入课文教学。 2)研讨、探究与实践
(1)检查学生对生词和课文的预习情况,然后给4~5分钟时间,让学生进行快速阅读,完成五个选择,再回答practice中的5个问题,教师可对阅读方法加以指导。
(2)对教学目标中提出的hot words和useful expressions以及相关语言点作必要的举例讲

(3)指导学生再次详读课文,可针对课文标题作出进一步讨论,让学生阐述自己的观点,并能复述课文。 3.教学参考材料
1)And sports shoes were not shoes unless they were Nike or Reebok.除非是耐克鞋或锐步鞋,否则运动鞋就不算是鞋了。
Nike和Reebok是著名品牌鞋的名称。
unless是连接词,用来引导条件状语从句,其含义相当于if not。例如: We won’t finish the work unless we get help from them. 除非得到他们的帮助,否则我们不会完成这项工作。 2)When they had something new or expensive,instead of just enjoying it for themselves,they liked to show off.当他们有什么新鲜或昂贵的东西时,他们不只是自己享用,而是喜欢炫耀。 动词短语show off作“卖弄”“炫耀”解。又如:
He is a man who is always showing off.他是一个爱炫耀的人。 show off后也可跟宾语。例如:
The mother likes to show off her daughters.这位母亲喜欢炫耀自己女儿的长处。 3)In a country, not all the people can become rich at the same time.在一个国家里,并非所有的人都能同时致富。
句中not all…表示部分否定,意为“并非所有的……”“并不是所有的……”。又如: Not all boys like to play football。并不是所有男孩都喜欢踢足球。
当not和all,every,both等词连用时,表示部分否定;如果要表示全部否定,则要用no,none,nobody,nothing,neither等具有否定含义的不定代词来表示。例如: None of us are perfect.我们大家都不是完美无缺的。 I like neither of the novels.这两本小说我都不喜欢。
4)Once we accept that not everybody can afford Nike,we’ll find life is easier.一旦我们认识到了不是所有的人都能买得起耐克,我们就会发现生活轻松多了。
Once you learn the theory,you’d better put it in use at once.你一旦学习了理论,最好马上应用。
本句中的accept作“认为某事属实”“接受某事”解。又如: I can’t accept that he is to blame.我认为不能责怪他。
We don't accept what you have said.我们不接受你说的话。
5)I grew up in Canada,which is known as a rich and developed country.我在加拿大长大,人们都知道那是一个富裕、发达的国家。
句中的be known as意思是“作为……而出名”“被认为是……”。又如: Peter is known as a famous banker.彼特作为一著名的银行家而出名。
She was well known as an excellent dancer.众所周知,她是一名优秀的舞蹈家。 另外,be known for(be famous for)是“因为……而出名”的意思。例如:
Charlie Chaplin is known for his silent films.查理卓别林以他的无声电影而著名。
6)For the student mentioned above,nothing on earth can be more valuable than his father’s love.对于上文提到的那个学生来说,归根结底,没有任何东西能比父亲的爱更有价值。 mention作“提到、提及”解。又如:
He mentioned to me that he had seen you somewhere before.他向我提到以前在哪儿见过你。 I shall mention it to him.我要向他提起这件事:
句中的mentioned above是过去分词短语作后置定语.修饰the student。
