语言要点

1. 介词in：

表示从事某一职业或活动等，可用介词in：

例如： in business经商， in teaching教书，in insurance从事保险业；

work in computers 从事计算机工作， lecture in French教法语

2. 询问别人工作：

询问别人的工作时，可以说：

What’s your job?

例如：--- What’s your job?

--- I’m a lawyer. 我是律师。

询问别人的工作时，也可以这样说：

What do you do?

例如：1. --- What do you do?

--- I’m an accountant.

2. --- What do they do?

--- They are police officers. 他们是警察。

3. 现在进行时

a. 现在进行时可以表示动作正在进行：

例如：He is wring a letter now．

他此刻正在写一封信。

b. 现在进行时可以表示现阶段正在进行的活动。

例如：She is preparing for the exam this week．

她本周在为考试做准备。

c. 现在进行时可以表示即将发生的动作或最近按计划或安排将要进行的活动。

例如： He is buying a new bike soon．

他不久就要买一辆新自行车。

I am seeing him this evening.

我今天晚上见他。

d. 现在进行时常与always，forever等时间副词连用，表示反复发生的或习惯性的动作等。

例如： She is always finding fault with others．她总是挑别人毛病。

John is always thinking of others．约翰总是为别人着想。

e. 现在进行时与一般现在时的区别：

* 现在进行时表示现在正在发生、进行的动作，或现阶段正在进行的动作；一般现在

时表示经常性的动作。

例如： 她在步行去学校。

She is walking to school now. （时间状语now）

She walks to school every day. （时间状语every day）

* 现在进行时可表示感情色彩，与always等连用，而一般现在时只说明事实。

例如： He is always talking in class. 他上课老讲话。

He always talks in class. （一般性的描述，不具备这种感情色彩）

* 英语中有些动词不用于进行时态。常见的有：

think，like，love，hate，believe，wish，hope，dislike，know，remember，understand理解，forget，notice注意到，see, look显得，appear，seem，hear，smell嗅，taste尝，等。

但是，see，hear，smell等动词的词义转变后，可以用进行时态，表示一个正在 发生的动作。

例如： They are seeing the sights in the city.

他们正在城里观光。（在观光）

They see an apple tree in the garden．

他们在院子里看见一棵苹果树。（看见）

1. 与职业有关的词汇：

2. 表示家庭关系的词汇：

教材 第48页 Activity 11、12、13、14

3. elder：年长的

例如：Janet is Mary's elder sister.

珍尼特是玛丽的姐姐。

* older 和 elder的用法比较：

old可以用于人或物，后面可以接than；

elder只用于人，后面不可以接than，并且作形容词时只能用作定语。

例如： Henry is my elder brother; he is two years older than I.

亨利是我的哥哥，他比我大两岁。

难句翻译

1. My elder brother works for a construction company – he’s an engineer.

我哥哥在建筑公司工作 --- 他是个工程师。

2. She’s in IT – a programmer in a management consultancy company.

她是搞信息技术的，是一家管理咨询公司的程序员。

3. He’s planning a sales campaign at the moment, but he’s visiting the New York office right

now.

他在为公司计划一个促销活动，不过他现在正在访问纽约事务所。
