When he was taken to the bedside, he knew immediately there’d been a mistake, but he knew the sick old man wanted to see his son very much. He didn’t want to disappoint a dying man, so he stayed on and played the part of the son.

He was very sick, and besides the young man before him was wearing the same uniform as his son.

10. How and where was the mistake made?

There were two Marines with the same name and similar numbers in the camp. Someone in the personnel office had informed the wrong person.

Translate the following passage into English. 将下面短文译成英语。

有一天，红十字会的人通知一位海军陆战对的战士立即前往纽约的一家医院，他的父亲病危。这为战术赶到医院，护士把他带到一个老头的床边。战士立即就明白了是搞错了，那个生命垂危的病人不是他的父亲。但是他知道老人在生命的最后时刻非常想见到自己的儿子。因此他留了下来，整夜守在床边，而老人直到咽气一直紧紧抓住他的手。

One day a man from the Red Cross told a Marine to go to a hospital in New York at once because his father was dying.The Marine hurried to hospital and nurse took him to beside of of an old man. He knew immediately that there was a mistake. The dying man was not his father, but he also knew that the old man wanted very much to see his son in the last moments of his life. So he stayed on , and throught the night he sat at the old man’s bedside, and the old man held tightly to his hand until he died.

Indefinite Pronouns(不定代词）

英语的不定代词指的是代替或具有限定任何特定名词的代词，如some, any, many, each, both, either, none, neither, one, all等，以及由some/any/every/no +body/thing/one构成的词。

1.some, any及其派生词。

1some和any在句中都可作主语。宾语和定语，some一般用于肯定句，any一般用于否定句和疑问句。

Some like singing; some like dancing.

Can any of you do it for me? 你们谁能帮我做这件事吗？

3)some 及其派生词有时亦用于其他疑问句，但意思与any其派生词不同。 Are you waiting for anybody? 你在等人吗？
