E-Book is the short form of Electronic Book. E-books are generally read on personal computers. Some users also read them on their cell phones. They are mainly for readers who surf online and want to get any information instantly on the web. These readers are also called e-readers.
Earlier E-books were written for specific audiences and were limited only to a few subjects. E-books have their own advantages, so they have gained lots of popularity. First and foremost, they can help us save time. They save us time on going to a shop, purchasing a book or on home delivery. Since time is a very important factor in today’s world, E-books provide instant solutions to our questions. Moreover, there are millions of E-books on the Internet which are available for free. Even ones we cannot get in the real world so easily.

A user can get any information via an E-book from his or her office directly on his or her mobile phone. This has brought a revolution in the world of the Internet and communication.
Just like a coin has two sides, E-books also have certain disadvantages. They require a personal computer or a mobile phone in order to be used. The data can be lost if its file format is not supported or changed in the reader’s computer.
Piracy (盗版) is yet another aspect which has to be thought of when talking about E-books. E-books often encourage piracy and therefore reduce the profits of the original book publisher.

书面表达(One possible version): Dear Jack,
I’m very glad to have received your letter asking for my opinion on the meaning of the proverb above. As we all know, reading plenty of books can help us be well-informed about the world and culture and can contribute to developing good habits of living. Books can guide us to enjoy our life better. So the first part of the proverb encourages us to read plenty of books.
As Bacon says \makes a full man\We can expand our knowledge and become wiser through reading, so that we can deal with all the problems in our daily life. However, we should choose books carefully. We can choose books which have a high value or that are positive. In my opinion, it is the quality rather than the quantity that counts.
In addition, what the proverb tells us is that we are supposed to combine practice with theory, which leads to a better understanding of what we learn. As is known to us all, knowledge comes from practice. Practice is also important. Best wishes!
Yours, Li Hua

W: No, I only come here once a month. Actually, I studied in Australia for several months two years ago.

Europe’s busy seasons are in summer and winter. Crowding is the main problem in the warmest months of June, July and particularly August, so you’d better not go in the busy months. In some countries, such as France and Italy, many shops and restaurants close in August while locals take their own holidays, meaning that some cities can feel rather dead. December is always busy in Paris, Prague and any Austrian or German city with a golden Christmas market. Easter is another busy time. You can find bargains by visiting traditionally \in winter, but be aware that public transport might be less frequent. In some northern locations such as Scotland, Sweden, Iceland and Norway, it might not run at all because of heavy snow and ice. For all the above reasons, by far the best months to travel to Europe are May, September and October. Apart from transport costs, you may need about 50 to 80 euros a day to get by in Western Europe. This might be less in smaller towns and in Mediterranean Europe. Eastern Europe is the cheapest region, costing a daily total of 30 to 40 euros; although Ukraine and Russia can be slightly more expensive, about 40 to 50 euros a day. Sweden, Iceland and Norway are slightly dearer than Western Europe.
