Module 1 Life in the future The City of the Future说课稿
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. It is my great honor to be here sharing our lesson with you. I divide this presentation into eight parts: A brief analysis of the teaching materials, the studying aims, the important and difficult points, the teaching and studying methods, and the teaching process, the design of blackboard and the exercise, and the teaching reflection.
Part1.The Analysis of the Teaching Material
The content of our lesson is from module 1, book 4 by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press. The topic is about Life in the Future. Its main task is to let the students imagine what the life will be like in the future. Today our lesson is the second period: reading. It tells
the future city and how to run a future city. Part2. Studying aims
According to the new standard curriculum and the syllabus, after this class, students should be able to achieve these aims. Knowledge aim:
1.To grasp some useful language points: run out, rely on, at birth, free of charge, at the flick of a switch, attach… to….
2.To foster their reading skills such as fast-reading and careful-reading and their ability to speak freely. Ability aim
Master the key points and improve their integrating skills by co-operation and communication, with the teachers’ guidance and help. Emotional aims:
Cultivate students’ positive attitude toward future. Important points
1) To foster their effective reading skills such as skimming, fast-reading and careful-reading
2) Get the main idea of the passage. Difficult points
Master some important phrases. Part3 .The Analysis of students Advantage:
The students have some foundations of listening, speaking, reading and writing. They are full of imagination and curious about the unknown world, so we should grasp the chance to arouse their interest in learning
English. Disadvantage:
However, for those who are not good at English, some tasks may be a little difficult, so we are supposed to pay attention to their different levels
and set different tasks for them.
Part4.The Method of teaching and studying strategies According to the important and difficult points, we take the task-based teaching method, communicative approach. The main
studying strategies are cooperative learning and self exploration. . Part5.Teaching process Pre-reading Step 1: Leading in
Show some pictures of life in the past and life at present. At the same time, ask a question: what life will be like in the future? (Arouse students’ interest in the text.) While- reading Step 2: Skimming
Skim and match the main idea of each part.
(Get the main idea quickly; know what the text mainly talks about) Step 3: Fast-reading
Read fast and finish the Activity 4and 6 on the book. Step4: Careful reading.
(1) Read carefully again, discuss with your partners and fill in the
chart.
(2) Find out some important phrases from the chart..
(During these steps, the teacher will explain some phrases and
difficult sentences. By these steps, they not only master some important phrases, but also have an overall comprehension of this article.) Post reading Step5: Discussion:
Work in groups of 4 to discuss the following two topics. Topic 1: Which prediction in the text …
1. is the most useful? Why? 2. will come true first? Why? Topic 2: How will you run the city in the future if you have the chance to
do so?
(Speaking is an important part in language learning, so we should create situations and activities to practice their speaking.) Step 6: Homework
Write a passage based on their discussion: My Dream Future
(It can help students to review what they learned in the class and reflect their studying level to the teachers. Meanwhile, practice students’ writing ability.)
Part6.The Design of the blackboard In this part, our general principles are simplicity and clearness. The frame of this article is on the left and some language points are presented on the right.
Part7.The Design of the Exercises:
1) Match: to improve their ability of getting information from materials. 2) Answer questions and fill chart: to develop their ability of reading and
analyzing.
3) Discussion: to pay attention to their ability of finishing tasks
cooperatively and expressing confidently and clearly. 4) Homework: to have a chance to practice their writing skills. Part 8 Teaching Reflection: Advantages:
We begin our class with some vivid pictures, which arouse students’ interest quickly. Disadvantages
1.) Our class mainly focus on the comprehension of the reading materials; a few language points are included.
2.) Because the time allocation is not so proper, we did not dig the reading deeply.
3.) One of our aims is to motivate students’ positive emotion and it also can be done by teacher’s voice and infection. But we did not do well in this aspect.
