从文华公书林到武汉大学信息管理学院图书分馆

摘 要：文华公书林是我国第一所实行开架借书的公共图书馆。其创办人韦棣华女士在文华公书林中所贯注的现代图书馆思想由文华图专传承和发扬。1938年后，文华图专图书馆不仅继承了文华公书林的部分藏书，更秉承其开办理念，继续为全校师生和普通民众提供服务。其后随文华图专并入武汉大学，保持并扩大了其特色馆藏资源，发展成为今天的武汉大学信息管理学院图书分馆。

The modern library thought which was implemented in it by Miss Mary Elizabeth Wood， the founder， was inherited and developed by the Boone Library School. After 1938， the library of Boone Library School not only kept part of the collection of books from Boone Library but also all the ideas， continuing the services for teachers and students in school and the citizens. Merged with Wuhan University with Boone Library School， the library maintained and enlarged its special collection， then became the Library of School of Information Management， Wuhan University which lasts till today.

文华公书林（Boone Library，1910～1938）是我国第一所实行开架借书的公共图书馆。其创建者美国图书馆学家韦棣华女士（Mary Elizabeth Wood，1861-1931）以此为依托，率其弟子沈祖荣（Samuel Tsu-Yung Seng，1884～1977）和胡庆生（Thomas C.S. Hu，1895～1968）开创了中国第一所图书馆学专门教育机构——文华图书馆学专科学校（1920～1953，1920～1929年为文华大学及其后的华中大学文华图书科，之后独立建校，简称“文华图专”）。文华图专不仅和文华公书林血脉相连，还在文华公书林关闭后，继承其开办理念和部分藏书，利用图书馆继续为全校师生和普通民众提供服务。文华图专并入武汉大学后，以资料室的形式为教学和科研服务，一直发展到今天成为武汉大学信息管理学院图书分馆（简称“武大信管院图书分馆”）。
