1. A lot of rich land has changed into desert.

A lot of 许多， 大量。相当于lots of. 即可修饰可数名词又可修饰不可数名词。修饰不可数名词时相当于a great deal of. We have a lot of (a great deal of ) work to do. Change ..into 把 …变成.. Change rich land into desert.

2. Trees can stop the wind from blowing the earth away.

Stop… from / prevent ..from sth./doing sth.阻止某人/某物做某事。 from可以省略。 What can we do to prevent the disease spreading?

3. Although we have built the Great Green Wall, we still need to work hard to protect the environment. Although 尽管,虽然

相当于though， 引导让步状语从句。 不能和but连用。 Although my uncle is old, he looks very strong and healthy. 4.It caused Harbin City to cut off its water supply for five days.
