I was traveling alone through the UK. To reach places that were off the public transportation map, I bought an old car, which cost most of my money. I couldn't afford to stay in the hotel, so I had to camp in my car for the rest of the trip.
One morning I awoke in my old car on a country road in Ireland and saw a single house. The water in my thermos(保温瓶) had gone cold, so I knocked on the door of the house. A woman opened it. I asked her for some hot water. But she wouldn't let me get away with just that! I was invited indoors. She asked me to sit at the table and have breakfast with her family. They filled my thermos before I left.
I was greatly moved. And I decided to pass the kindness on. The other day I met a young man who had been driving around to look for a parking lot. He looked increasingly upset. I was glad that I was able to point one out to him. His thankful smile was the hugest reward(奖赏) for me.

Life is colorful. However, life sometimes plays jokes on us, especially when one has a bad day. Oscar is an unlucky one.
Oscar got up late in the morning. He set the alarm clock at 8:00 a.m. the night before because he had a job interview at a company today. But the alarm clock didn't ring. How strange!
Then Oscar sat at the kitchen table where his breakfast usually was, but it wasn't there. Instead, he found a note left by his sister,“I am really busy today. Make breakfast yourself.” So Oscar had a quick breakfast of bread and milk. Then he rode his bicycle to the company for the interview.
When Oscar arrived, he was scolded(责骂) by the angry boss for being five minutes late. But he still got the job after the interview. Also, he was told to get to work at 9:00 a.m. the next day. That night Oscar went to bed earlier at 11:00 p.m. in order not to be late the next day.
The next morning, Oscar's sister woke him up at 8:00 a.m. But he wanted to stay in bed for five more minutes. He finally had to get up when the sunlight shone down on his eyes. He did everything like any other normal day. When he finished his breakfast, he found it was already 9:05 a.m. He was late again.

A group of teenagers: they laugh and talk over each other, dance and make goofy(傻的) faces—you wouldn't think they had played on the same stage as famous American singers Kid Cudi and Eminem.
These seven kids, all under the age of 20, are members of the band Kids These
Days (KTD).
Fresh out of high school, the band has already achieved things that most teens couldn't even imagine. They played at festivals including the recent SXSW in Austin and Lollapalooza in their hometown, Chicago, to a large fan base.
KTD uses a mix of hip-hop, jazz, soul, blues and classic rock to create a sound that is very special.
“Kids These Days simply mixes most, if not all of my favorite kinds of music into one big masterpiece,” said Kamia Jones, a Chicago-area high school senior. “I like that they aren't afraid to be different and that their music is real and speaks to the soul(灵魂).”
The band formed two years ago in the basement(地下室) of one of the lead singers, Liam Cunningham. Now they are becoming popular around the world. Their Facebook page is filled with supportive posts from fans from California to Portugal.
“It's really strange to me that people from London, Australia and Russia…They've heard of us and they like our music. It's a really cool feeling,” says Macie Stewart, who plays the keyboard for the band.
KTD is a group of normal teenagers and they remain very close to one another. While talking to reporters, they dance and make fun of each other.
When asked what advice they would give to other teen musicians, Greg Landfair Jr, KTD's drummer, said, “Keep your heart in it. Never lose the music and what you're doing, because that's what you're here for. Let the music always be first.”
