Pepe’s political consciousness developed between 1984, when she earned a B.F.A at Massachusetts College of Art, Boston, and 1995, when she received an M.F.A from the school of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston .Though feminism was declining as a force in American culture, Pepe remained committed to women’s and gay rights.
