Shortly after being hired as the Resource Coordinator at Wells High School£¬I set out to establish an area for students to participate in after-school programs.Within the first week of being hired£¬I began searching the building for a potential space but failed.It wasn¡¯t until the custodian(¿´ÃÅÈË) took me down to the basement of the building that I found what I was looking for.

My first impression of the basement room was that it looked like something from the scene of a Saw movie.The room was filled with old gardening equipment£¬along with many other random things.My second impression of the room was that it had tons of potential.During the first three weeks of August£¬about 15 students and I began working on it.By the end of August£¬the room had been cleared out£¬cleaned and painted.

The Graffiti-Mural Art Club was established as a result of all the hard work that went into fixing the basement room.Because this room is on a separate floor from all of the other things going on in the building£¬students are able to use this room as their own personal studio.They do not have to worry about making too much noise or spilling paint.In this program£¬students are given the opportunity to design murals(±Ú»­) on the walls and students can learn about various street art techniques.The fact that students are able to ¡°tag¡± on a wall has served as an inducement for students who usually do not participate in extracurricular programs to join.
