One day Xiao Ming was walking alone, as he was suffering from a bad cold, he was wearing a mask over his nose and mouth to protect himself from another cold.
While passing a river, Xiao Ming saw a man in the river, struggling for life and calling for help.
Instead of saving the man, Xiao Ming covered his eyes with his mask, pretending not to have seen the man in danger.
Unfortunately, with his eyes covered with the mask, Xiao Ming couldn’t see where he was going, so he fell into the water, too. And now it was his turn to struggle in the river and call for help.

Text 10
Now, before we start our first lab, I’d like to tell you a little bit about the workbook you will be using. It is a big book. What you should do is choose the activities you want to do. Part of my job is to help you make your choices. Next, I’d like to say that in each lesson, there are usually two parts. The first is called “Experiments” and the second is called “Activities.” In the “Experiments” part, the book gives full instructions for all the experiments, including other steps you may take. Choose the steps you wish as there’s plenty of equipment in the lab. In the “Activities” part, you’ll find activities you can do in your time. No instructions are given in this part, and you should do them your own way. If there are no questions, let’s turn to Lesson One now.
