探究案Exploring Case Step 1. Warming up

1. What do you think about sharing?

2. Have you ever helped others?Think about the things you do to help other people, interview three of your classmates and write their answers on the survey form. (see Ex. 1 in warming-up part on page 28)

3. What does the word \survey form can be called a \(some signs about it, things the volunteers usually do .etc.)

Step 2. Pre-reading

Jo was a volunteer who worked in Papua New Guinea (PNG) for two years. The reading passage is an airmail letter from Jo to her friend, in which she sent her friends some photos. Look at the photos and in groups answer the questions. (see the pre-reading part on page 28)

Step 3. While reading

Task I. Skimming

1. Divide the passage into 4 parts and match the main idea of each paragraph. Part 1(Paragraph 1) End of the letter.

Part 2(Paragraphs 2-3) Opening of the letter and introduction to what will be talked about in the passage.

Part 3(Paragraphs 4-8) The school where Jo worked and Jo's work at school. Part 4(Paragraph 9) Jo and Jenny visited Tombe's home in the village. 2. Fill in the blanks with the names mentioned in the text. 1. ___ is a young Australian women.
