A Design of an Electric Powered wheelchair Controller with the Principal
and Subordinate Structure Based on DSP and MCU

Abstract: This paper presented a new type design of an electric powered wheelchair controller of the principal and subordinate structure based on DSP and MCU. MCU, LCD (liquid crystal display), joy stick and keypad are included in the operating and display modules of the system . DSP (TMS320LF2407A), direct current permanent magnet motor and driving circuit are included in the driver module of the system . The communication between the principal and subordinate is serial communication. The experiment result shows that the principal and subordinate mode system can realize wheelchair¡¯s various kinds of movements and the controlling effect is good.
