1. 英译汉

Whether he be a great scientist, proving by his discovery of a sweeping physical law that he has some such constructive sense as that which guides the universe, or whether he be a poet beholding trees as “imperfect men,” who “seem to bemoan their imprisonment, rooted in the ground,” he is being brought into his own by perceiving “the virtue and pungency of the influence on the mind of material objects, whether inorganic or organized.”

参考答案：无论他是一名伟大的科学家，有证据证明他发现了普遍的自然规律，他的建设性见解能够引导宇宙运行；或者说他是一名诗人，视树木如“弱冠”，“足踏俗世凡尘，愤怨藩笼羁索”，但最终都会回归自我，并感知到“身心所受之祥和与狂暴，无论其身心为乱为正。”

2. 汉译英
