M: Does he have a stamp collection or a coin collection? W: No, he doesn’t like collecting things. M: Does he like fishing?
W: No, he doesn’t enjoy the outdoors. He prefers to do things inside. In fact, he’s a real couch potato.
M: He just sits inside and watches TV, huh? W: Yeah. He loves watching old movies.
M: There’s a movie festival this summer. They’re showing a lot of old movies. You can get him some movie tickets.
W: That’s perfect. I’ll get him movie tickets. Then he can watch old movies all summer. 现在请听一段独白,完成第16至第18小题。
12. Coffee has been a part of people’s lives for thousands of years, and today it is
still one of the most popular drinks in the world. Many people in the world begin their busy day by drinking a cup of coffee. They think that a cup of coffee in the morning helps them begin their day in the right way. So they say a cup of coffee is necessary for them in the morning.
Do you know what makes our bodies and brains active in the coffee? It is caffeine. Caffeine may increase a person’s mental and physical abilities. For example, two cups of coffee will make you breathe faster and increase body heat. All this makes your heart beat faster, and doctors warn that this may be a little dangerous.
Caffeine is found in tea, coffee, chocolate and some other foods. A little caffeine is probably not harmful. But too much caffeine can make people nervous and sleepless.

W: Hello. I’m calling about the apartment you advertised. M: Yes. What kind of apartment are you interested in? W: I’m interested in a one-bedroom. Do you have any available? M: Yes. I have one. When do you need it? W: Sometime around next week. What can you tell me about this apartment? M: Well, it’s a one-bedroom apartment. The monthly rent is $650, with a
$300 security deposit. You pay electricity only. Gas and water are included. You’ll be given a parking space in front of the apartment. And… that’s probably it.
W: Sounds good. May I come over tomorrow to take a look? M: Sure. What time would you like to come? W: About ten o’clock tomorrow morning. M: OK. See you then.
