How often do you let other people’s nonsense change your mood(情绪)? Do you let a bad driver, impolite waiter, rude boss,or an insensitive employee ruin your day??
Sixteen years ago I learned a lesson. I got in a taxi, and we took off for Grand Central Station. We were driving in the right lane (车道) when all of a sudden, a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver used his brakes (车闸), the tires made a loud noise, and at the very last moment our car stopped just 3cm from the back of the other car.
I couldn’t believe it. But then I couldn’t believe what happened next. The driver of the other car, the guy who almost caused a big accident, turned his head around and he started shouting at us. I couldn’t believe it!
My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. So, I said, ―Why did you just do that? This guy could have killed us!‖ And this is when my taxi driver told me what I now call, ―The Law of the Garbage Truck‖. He said, ―Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of anger and disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they look for a place to dump (倾倒) it. And if you let them, they’ll dump it on you.
So I started thinking how often I let Garbage Trucks run right over me and how often I take their garbage and spread it to other people.
I began to see Garbage Trucks. I see the load people are carrying. I see them coming to dump it. And like my taxi driver, I don’t take it personally. I just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on.

Whether you’re ready or not, it’s time to say goodbye to ―Glee‖.
Fox’s musical comedy ―Glee‖ performed its emotional series ending on March 20. The story of the comedy begins with a flashback(倒叙)to the very beginning when the original member of New Directions joined the glee club, and then things look forward to the future.
The show first caught my attention because it reminded me of ―Slam Dunk‖ 《灌篮高手》, an animated childhood favorite about basketball. Both center on a group of teenagers who experience different difficulties but gradually, through music in the case of ―Glee‖ and sport in the case of ―Slam Dunk‖, find strength and acceptance.
In ―Glee‖, the teacher Will Schuester wants to change the school chorus(合唱团). However, every member is kind of strange. Finn Hudson is a football player whose friends laugh at him for putting singing before sports. Rachel Berry, the highly-confident lead, eagerly wants to be famous. Mercedes Jones struggles with weight problems. Artie Abrams, a wheelchair guitar player, always feels less than a part of the group.
Through the growth of these characters, the show tells its central message: Be your own person, no matter what others think.
Just by watching ―Glee‖, music lovers can keep up with the latest fashion in pop music. ―Glee‖ covers hit songs from popular artists, including Adam Lambert and Britney Spears as guest performers. It also praises classic musicians such as the Beatles and Billy Joel. Music from ―Glee‖ began sweeping pop music charts(音乐排行榜)shortly after its performance in 2009. In 2010, the ―Glee‖ soundtrack(原声带)hit No.1 on a Billboard chart.
With great music, touching moments and famous guest stars, ―Glee‖ has all the parts of a great musical play. Some critics complained about its unusual character development, but these criticisms will soon disappear as the show’s music and memory continue. 33. The series ending of Fox’s musical comedy ―Glee‖__________. A. is a very famous movie for children B. offers songs sung all by guest singers C. develops by returning to events in the past D. tells us that music and sports go hand in hand
34. ―Glee‖ reminded the author of ―Slam Dunk‖ because they both_________. A. are very successful performances
B. tell the audience stories about children C. draw audiences’ attention with unusual music D. tell teenagers’ growth with difficult experience 35. We can infer from the passage that________. A. the music of ―Glee‖ is a big success
B. all the people love to watch the musical comedy C. some classical musicians performed in the comedy D. ―Glee‖ has received more criticism than praise
