Unit 8 When is your birthday?

1、——When is your birthday, Jeff? 杰夫，你的生日是哪一天？

——My birthday is June fourth. (P47) 我的生日是六月四号。 1)辨析：when 与what time

?when是疑问副词，意为“什么时候”，“何时”；询问某年、某月或某日大范围的时间时，一般用when。如：—When do you play football? 你什么时候踢足球？

—I play football in the afternoon. 我下午踢足球。

?what time意为“什么时间”；“几点了”，问的是具体的时间，常对时刻、钟点进行提问。如：—What time is it now? 现在几点了？—It’s eight o’clock.八点。

?当表示询问做某事的具体时间时，两者可互换。如：

—What time (When)do you usually go to school? 你通常什么时候上学？ —I usually go to school at eight o’clock. 我通常八点钟上学。

2. 英语中日期的表达：通常先说月，再说日，最后说年。如：August 8th, 2008 2008年8月8号。注意：英语中的“日” 用序数表示，书写时定冠词可以省略，序数词的词尾“th”也可以省略，但读时一定要读成序数词。如：May 4/4th 读做：May forth or May the forth。英语中的“年”用基数词表示，读年份时可将前两位数字为一个单元，后两个数字为一个单元。如：1996读做nineteen ninety-six，而2008通常读做two thousand(千)and eight。

3. 十二个月January , February , March , April , May, June, July, August , September , October, November, December表示月份的词第一个字母要大写

表示“在几月”用介词in，且月份前无需冠词 如：in November 在十一月 表示“在几月几日”用介词on，如：on November 2nd 在十一月二号

at时间点，有on必有天; in指月季年，也和晌相连; 昨天今天和明天，上下这那每之前, at on in 皆不填 4. date n. 日期

今天是几月几日？—What's the date today? = What date is it today? —It’s October 5. 5. 序数词

基变序，有规律， 一、二、三单独记。-th从四加起， 八去t来、 九去 e 。遇到ve, f 替, -ty变为 tie, 后跟th莫迟疑。 若想表示几十几，只变个位就可以。 ① 一般词＋th fourth 4th , sixth 6th , seventh , 7th ,

first , 1st , second , 2nd ; third , 3rd

（1）在名词后加上’s eg: Tom’s , Mr Smith’s , his father’s , the children’s （2）在以s结尾的复数名词后加上’ eg : the students’ our classmates’ the desks’ （3）表示共同拥有时，使用A and B's ； 如：Lucy and Lily's room共同的room

表示各自拥有时，用A's and B's形式 如：Lucy's and Lily's rooms

（4）表示动物和无生命的东西的名词所有格一般使用介词of短语表示，如：a photo of my family 我家的全家福 7. How old…? 意为“……几岁了（多大了）？”，是对年龄提问的特殊疑问句，其句型是：“How old + be +主语？”， 答语常用句型“主语+be+基数词+year(s)/months old”表示，也可以直接说出年龄。如：

—How old is your mother? 你的母亲多大年龄了？—He is fifty (years old). 他五十岁了。 —How old is little Tom? 小汤姆多大了？—He is only eight months old. 他才八个月。

注意：在英美国家一般不能向成年人询问年龄，尤其是女性，否则被视为不礼貌会令对方尴尬。 8. Art festival艺术节 festival n. 节日 9. trip 表短暂的“旅行、旅游”

10. time 作“时间”时，是不可数名词；作“次数”时，是可数名词： I have much time. 我有很多时间。 I read it three times. 我读了三次。 1）到……时间了

It’s time to do sth. It’s time to read your book.

11. 长途陆路用journey，短途短期用trip; 观光游玩用tour，海上航行用voyage; travel用法最普遍，特别用于指游记。
