constant adj. 意为“经常发生的,连续不断的,固定的” eg: Tom was in constant pain. continual,continuous与constant的区别:
continual意为“一段时间内多次发生;时断时续;中断时间很短又连续发生”。 eg: Continual dropping wears away the stone.
continuous意为“连续不断的”,含有时间、物质或广度上没有间断的意思。 eg: The horizon is a continuous line.
constant意为“始终如一的;持续的发生”,侧重于时间的持续性以及经久不变的特点。 eg: He is my constant companion, and he is always with me when I am in trouble. 3. Worried about the journey, I was unsettled for the first few days. 此处worried about the journey意为“担心这次旅行”,是形容词作原因状语,相当于从句。形容词或形容词短语作原因状语时,通常放在句首。 eg: Born in a poor family, he couldn’t afford to go to school. 4. similar adj. 意为“相似的,类似的” eg: Those who share the similar interest can be friends. similarity n. 意为“相似之处” eg: Are there any similarities between the two brothers? similarly adv. 意为“相似地”
A is similar to B 意为“A与B相似”,反义词组be different from。eg: Gold is similar in color to brass. 5. The air seemed thin, as though its combination of gases had little oxygen left. as though相当于as if,意为“似乎,好像”,可以引导陈述句和虚拟语气。若as though从句描述非现
实情况,用虚拟语气,即当从句表示与现在的事实相反的动作时,从句用一般过去时,系动词be通常were;当表示与过去事实相反的动作时,用过去完成时。若从句的内容发生的可能性很大,则不用虚拟语气此时主语谓语多是look,seem,smell等动词。 eg: She walked slowly as if / though she had hurt her leg.
as for 意为“至于,就……而论” eg: As for the present situation, I have a lot to say.
as long as 意为“只要……” eg: As long as you can finish your task on time, you will get your part. 6. He was swept up into the centre of them. sweep up 意为“打扫;清扫” eg: Someone was sweeping up the dead leaves as I left the building. sweep sb up 意为“一下抱起某人” eg: Mary swept the child up in her arms and ran away. sweep one’s hair up 意为“把某人的头发梳到后面”

switch on,switch off与 switch from的区别:
switch on意为“打开(电灯,无线电等)” eg: He switched the light on, only to find that there was a gun
pointing at him.
switch off 意为“关上,断掉(电源等)” eg: Don’t forget to switch off the electricity when you leave the
classroom.
switch from意为“从 / 把……变为……”
