英美文学

《英国文学史及作品选读》系英语专业高年级学生的专业必修课，它由英国文学史和英国文学作品选读两部分组成，主要内容以英国文学发展史为线索，对每一发展时期占主流的文学思潮，具有代表意义的作家及其代表作品，在了解、分析、欣赏的过程中，完成对该门课程的学习，完成英语语言知识的拓展和英语运用能力的提高，完成对英国文化深层次的理解和文学鉴赏能力的培养。它在英语专业的课程中占有举足轻重的地位，是许多院校英语专业招收硕士学位研究生考试的主要科目之一。 二、课程教学的基本要求

本课程的教学在于使学生在学完专业基础课之后，系统把握英国文学发展的历史和现状；理清英国文学流变的脉络：掌握各发展时期占据主流地位的文学流派的特点，代表作家及其代表作品；通过对文学名篇及选段的分析，加深对各文学流派创作特点，主要作家创作风格的理解，培养学生阅读文学作品的兴趣，欣赏英语文学原著的能力，加深对英语语言表现力的认识；通过文学作品作为语言结构，语言文体，语言材料及作家思想的载体作用，促进学生语言知识的深化及语言能力的提高，分析问题，解决问题能力的发展；通过对学生社会科学知识如历史，哲学，文化等方面知识的要求，提高学生的人文素质，增强学生对整个西方文学及文化的感悟。

在教学方法方面，要充分调动学生的学习兴趣，发挥其主体作用，采用启发式、研讨式等多种教学方法，形成师生互动式的教学模式，充分利用多媒体进行教学。 三、课程教学内容

《美国文学史及选读》是全国高校英语语言文学专业高年级阶段的专业必修课程。设置本课程，旨在使学生对美国文学形成和发展的全貌有一个大概的了解，丰富知识，提高语言能力；通过对文学史上具有代表性作家的代表性作品片断的教学，使学生理解作品的内容，了解作品的思想性和艺术性，初步掌握分析和评价文学作品的方法和标准，培养对英文的鉴赏力。由于本课程以文学史为主线，以作家作品为重点，学生要仔细阅读有关文学史和原作品，通过阅读，把握美国文学形成和发展的主线，增强对文学作品的理解，特别是对作品中表现的社会生活和人物思想感情的理解，提高阅读文学作品的能力和鉴赏水平。 二、课程教学的基本要求

通过对美国文学史中重要作家代表作品片段的讲授，使学生对各时期的文艺思想和主要作家风格和语言艺术有一定的了解，以此提高学生对英语的文学语言的鉴赏能力。在分析作家、作品、人物、背景、思想倾向时, 使学生认识并理解到他(它)们的进步意义和时代局限,从而提高分析问题的能力。同时要求学生在学习过程中掌握美国文学的发展过程及一些重要的文学术语等。
