Theoretical basis
According to the current English Teaching Syllabus, language learning theory and learning by doing theory, the students are the real masters in the class while the teacher acts as a director. I will encourage students to improve their cooperation ability and develop different reading skills. Analysis of the teaching material
The topic of Unit 4 is colors and mood. The reading passage is Color Association. It talks about color association, especially differernt meanings of different colors. Red, yellow and blue are particularly mentioned in the text. The text is not difficult for students to understand, however, they must work hard to know something valuable such as the importance of the three primary colors. Analysis of the students
Our students have learnt English for years, they already have certain English knowledge, though they still have some difficulties in expressing themselves in English. What's more, they are interested in new things and have some certain ability of imagination, observation and creation. They are

students of English major, and it’s more important for them to grasp different skills in English such as listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating.
Three dimensional teaching aims 1. Knowledge aims:
a. Students learn some new words and useful expressions: particularly, association, shape, object, tie, caution, policeman, opposite, blue-chip, be associated with, warn of, etc. b. Students learn some useful sentence patterns: Red is used to express a strong feeling like anger.
By association we are able to remember things that happened in the past. 2. Ability aims:
a. Students acquire a good knowledge of colors and their interesting meanings. b. Students improve their reading ability by using different reading strategies such as skimming and scanning.
c. Students learn to teach by teaching colors to “pupils” in the teaching situation.
3. Emotional aims:
a. Students become more interested in English learning and teaching. b. Students may know what red, yellow and blue to colors is just what ABC to English, thus they may hold a good attitude towards English learning and teaching.
c. Students learn to cooperate with each other and have spirit of teamwork. Teaching important points:
a. Students comprehend the text and grasp the main idea of the text. b. Students know the detailed information in the text.

Teaching difficult points:
a. Students improve their reading ability and understand the passage better. b. Students learn to teach “pupils” in the teaching situation. Teaching and learning methods: Task-based learning and teaching Discussion Teaching aid: The multi- media set Teaching procedures: Step 1 Lead-in
A student try to teach the “pupils” colors, which is the homework of last class. Other students act as pupils to cooperate with the student.
Aims: Students may have a chance to teach in the class and lead in the new class naturally.
Step 2 Warming-up
Have free talks with students.
“What color will you choose to teach the pupils? ” “What’s your favorite color ? Why?”
Aims: Students may have a chance to speak Enlish and improve their speaking skills. Students become familiar with the topic. Step 3 Reading
1. Listening
listen to get the main idea of the text. What does the text mainly talk about?
