How to Communicate with Others?

With the development of the economic globalization, communication became more and more important.

The discipline of communication focuses on how people use messages to generate meanings within and across various contexts, cultures, channels, and media. The discipline promotes the effective and ethical practice of human communication.

Communication is a diverse discipline which includes inquiry by social scientists, humanists, and critical and cultural studies scholars. A body of

scholarship and theory, about all forms of human communication, is presented and explained in textbooks, electronic publications, and academic journals. In the journals, researchers report the results of studies that are the basis for an ever-expanding understanding of how we all communicate.

The significance of communication is verified not only by nations at war, business opponents but also by people bearing different thoughts, behaviors and customs. One of the most frequently heard complaints today is that there are so many differences between the old and the young generations that they always fail to understand each other and many disputes arise accordingly. Always rebellious, young people are turning to be rather odd while their parents are quite embarrassed, or even unbearable to see all these offbeat behaviors. Children may deen parents to be conserved while parents

may come to

the conclusion that the young are getting wild.

With the development of science and technology, the world is no longer what it used to be. Everyone should master one or more skills in order to survive and succeed in the world. As far as I am concerned, the most important skill is communication skill. There are several reasons to support my points. First, other people could understand you better if you have a good communication skill. There is an adage which says the only weapon that becomes sharper with constant use is the tongue. People can find opportunities with communicating with others. For example, I have a classmate who studies very hard and gets good score in the exam. He is introverted and you can rarely see him communicate with others. When he applied a school in America, the school invited him to have a face to face interview in Hong Kong. The interview officer has quickly detected that he is not good at communicate, because he can’t explain what he want to says clearly. So he didn’t get the offer from that school. It is important to let others understand you and it depend on your communication skill. If you do not have

the ability to communicate with others, it is difficult to survive in the world.

Communication plays so important a role in our work and life, but actually, many people do not know how to communicate with others of different culture and background well. To achieve a successful communication process, people should observe some principle. The most important one is that they should respect different culture and traditions, which is the base of the successful communication. What is more, speakers must seek for some similar content or interest. Only in this way, can they get to understand each other better and have more common topics. And besides, in the process of the communication, they should use many ways to communicate with each other, including oral language, body language and some other tools. In the end, during the process of communication, people should pay attention to the feedback of the listeners. Through the feedback of the audiences, the speaker can change the way he speak, attract the interest of the listener and thus improve the effect of the communication.

In conclusion, communication is so important to a person and organization in today’s society. We need to understand it better and know how to communicate with different people well. In the process of communication, we should consider the culture, personality，body language and other factors to communicate effectively.
