Unit4 Reading 优教教学设计(一)

设计意图

This period is intended to develop students’ reading skills. After reading some pieces of attractive news, students may be interested in the topic of this text. Ask students to discuss what qualities a good journalist should possess. Then guide students to read the passage.

Warming Up is intended to get students to know about the different kinds of jobs in publishing newspapers and what they involve,

Pre-reading is intended to show some good qualities a good journalist needs to have, such as higher level of education, enthusiasm and hard-working. Divide students into groups to discuss these qualities, and then ask students to predict what makes Zhou Yang first work “unforgettable”

The reading is about a dialogue between a new journalist Zhou Yang and his new boss, Hu Xin. While reading, students try to finish the reading tasks in the limited time. After reading, students can know about the necessary skills to become a good journalist and how to cover a story.

教学目标

1. To enable students to have a better understanding of the reading passage. 2. To develop the students’ reading skills and help them cultivate sense of cooperative learning.

教学重点

1. To help students understand the main idea of the reading and learn more about a journalist and his job.

2. To help students describe his first work assignment with the words, expressions and structures.

教学难点

Step 1: Lead-in

(设计意图:通过几张新闻图片激活学生的思维,引起学生的学习兴趣,从而导入新课。)

T: Class, there appears some good news and bad news every day. Would you like to share some news with all of us?

S1: … S2: …

T: OK, very good. Here are some pieces of latest news sharing with all of you. Sept. 19th—Jack Ma became the richest man in mainland China. Sept. 21st—Tennis player Li Na announced to retire. How can we get the information in time?

S1: From TV or radio. S2: From the Internet. S3: …

T: Yes, some of us get news from TV, radio, magazines and the Internet, and others get news from newspapers. The newspaper is the oldest and popular media. There are many people involved in the work, including journalists. If you want to be a good journalist, you must have some good qualities. What qualities should a good journalist possess?

S1: Hard-working and work experience. S2: Good communication skills. S3: …

T: Wonderful! A good journalist should need the above qualities. In this class we’ll learn about anew journalist’s first assignment and learn about the necessary skills to become a good journalist.

Step 2: Reading

(设计意图:Skimming 和 Scanning 两个环节的设计旨在引导学生快速浏览文章,从总体上把握文章的框架结构及主题结构,培养学生的快速阅读能力。)

1. Skimming

T: Read the text quickly and finish the following tasks. While reading, focus on the topic sentences.

(1) Underline all the questions asked by Zhou Yang (ZY). (2) What is the passage mainly about? Suggested answers:

(l) ① Can I go out on a story immediately? ② What do I need to take with me?

③ What do I need to remember when I go out to cover a story? ④ What should I keep in mind? ⑤ Why is listening so important?

⑥ How can I listen carefully while taking notes?

⑦ Have you ever had a case where someone accused your journalists of getting the wrong end of the stick?

(2) It tells us how to become a good journalist, including some necessary skills and some duties.

2. Scanning

T: Read the paragraphs to find detailed information. Section I: Read lines 1-15 and answer this question.

Step 3: Post-reading

(设计意图:运用课文所学内容,进行语言输出,提高学生的口语表达能力。) T: Well, class. Since we have learned the whole passage, we know how to be a good journalist. Now suppose you are a journalist for China Daily, can you write a brief news about Li Na? Discuss in pairs, and then share your opinions with us.
