Unit 1 Animals
Period One
Teaching contents: Read and say Point, ask and answer Teaching Aims:
1. Knowledge Aims:
Using nouns to identify animals. e.g. dogs, cats, etc.
Using an imperative to draw attention to something. e.g. Look at the animals.
Using wh-question to find out specific information about something.
e.g. What are they?
Using pronouns to refer to particular animals. e.g. They’re pigs.
Using formulaic expressions to express lack of comprehension. e.g. I’m sorry. I don’t know.
2. Ability Aims:
Point, ask and answer freely using the sentences: What are they? They’re____.
3. Education Aims:
Call on the students to love the animals. Difficult and key points:
1. Different sounds of “s” in the plurals.
2. Pay attention to the sound of “the” in front of a vowel. Teaching Aids:
Word and picture cards Cassette 3A and a cassette player Teaching Procedure: 教学步骤 Warming-up Revision 方法与手段 Say a rhyme about animals 公鸡cock喔喔喔,cock,cock是公鸡…… Talk about the animals. T: Do you like animals? Which animal do you like best? Prompt the students to say some animals they know. Presentation 1. 1. Say “Look at the animals. (Point to a picture.) What are they?” To elicit: “I’m sorry. I don’t know, or They’re ____.” 7. 7. Repeat the dialogue until they are confident with the vocabulary 8. 8. Practise in pairs. 9. 9. Invite some pairs to act it out. Consolidation 1. 1. Distribute copies of photocopiable page 24. In groups, the students colour and name the animals and cut the pictures out to make a set of cards. They place the cards face down in a pile. They take turns to take a card and say Look at the animals. What are they? If the students answers correctly, he keeps the card. Continue until all the cards are used up. Using imperatives to give instructions. e.g. Open the door. Using nouns to identify things. e.g. Chicks with the hen.
Using numerals to show quantities. e.g. A farmer and ten chicks. 2. Ability Aims:
Master the rhythm of the rhyme. 3. Education Aims:
Talk about the farmers’ work.
Difficult and key points: Pronounce the phrase correctly. Teaching Aids:
