It seems reasonable to admit that children are loved by parents is deserved. Children will be healthy growth in the care of parents. But parents should learn how to love children properly. In Chinese parents? opinion, the meaning of love is only to care about children?s physical needs. They only provide their children with a large amount of materials, and put the pressure of study on children and arranging all daily life for children. Those parents who let children let slide is irresponsible to children. Their behavior will also hurt the children. If parents spoil, indulge and always humor children blindly, children will grow up to be selfish, capricious, arrogant and weak in the psychology. Nowadays, with the emergence of a large number of only-one-child, and the rise of living standard, almost all of Chinese parents have such opinions “Loving children is to ensure that children can eat well, wear well and play well”.(黄桂英, 李凤云, 2007) Chinese parents sometimes overly protect and spoil children in life. Children once leaving their parents will be at a loss, and can?t self-reliance in the world. An educator once said: the true love of parents is to teach children the way of self-reliance. Chinese parents are very strict with their children, and many children are prevented from exposuring the outer world because their parents worry about they are affected by bad things. They don?t care about their children?s social ability. Chinese parents should let their children experience difficulties when their children are young. Failure is the

mother of success. One day the children need to enter the society, parents should let children master life skills by themselves and encourage children to try to experience failures or successes. Chinese parents should give their children the chance to make mistakes, and then guide them to learn lessons from the mistakes. They should not always try their best to help their children avoid suffering rather than encourage them to overcome it by themselves. Chinese Parents should educate their children according to their children?s physical and psychological development features and age characteristics. Parents should learn how to more efficiently and effectively communicate with children. 5.2 Democratic education

In Chinese families, there are unequal relationship between parents and children because of the influence of traditional concepts. Nowadays, although some parents have changed their concepts, there are still a lot of parents treating their children commandingly. Chinese parents should treat their children equally, respect them and try their best to create harmonious atmosphere. When a conflict between parents? and children?s ideas come up, parents should analyze and explain the situation to the children calmly rather than force them to obey. Children are independent individuals who have independent opinions and understandings. The basic requests are that parents should listen attentively to there children?s ideas and consider their opinions carefully. Parents should give children

more opportunities to self-options, and respect their choice. Don?t let them become the tool of helping parents realize their dream. Chinese parents should understand children and give children more space to grow up. The children are exclusive any decisions that imposed on them and it brings to children only pressure not motivation. 5.3 Open up learning education

There is no doubt that learning knowledge is important to children. But parents should not constrain children?s whole life space in the word of knowledge. Good performance at exam is not the sole criterion for a good student. Children should be evaluated comprehensively. On the other hand, in a society with fierce competition, survival education and financing education are vital to children. Colorful life provides people with indispensable knowledge. So family education should not only take the children be bound by books, and should not only take the children closed in the family and school. Parents should let their children contact life in all spaces. And let their children to participate in the activities of the necessary. Student?s activities are more widely, more profound, student?s development is more comprehensive and more fully. Chinese parents should help children understand life and society, enrich their experience and lay the foundation of their future independent life, or to be more specific master the basic life skills and understand and obey the basic social regulations.

Conclusion

A comparison between family education of China and America embodies the cultural similarities and differences. Cultivating children to be perfect is all parents? aim both in China and America. From individuals to the country, the communication is based on mutual understanding and identification. Only if parents and children understand and identify each other can they get along with each other. The research on the differences especially has its value. What kind a person will be, depend on what kind of family education he received. In other words, children?s characters and destiny have closely relationship with their family education.

Children are the expectation of their parents; education is the hope of our nation. As we all know, parents are our first teacher and the family environment we live in have direct influence on our future life. Family education is the first lesson, which will be remembered forever. According to above comparison, there are many differences between American and Chinese family education. American family education has many strong points and that is the reason why so many overseas go to America to study and the children in America can be independent. This also gives Chinese parents examples about how to cultivate children properly. Now, Chinese children are generally regarded as in talents with few intelligence and high scores.
